Quad Cortex Mini

not surprised they released something I have not seen a single NDSP/QC owner ask for
I don't get this argument -- why would they release a new product that current owners of their products are asking for? Why not release the thing that FractalFanbois have been asking for but Fractal has not been providing?

I for one am not afraid to admit that if this were an FM3 in that form factor at that price, I would be immediately posting my AM4 for sale and buying it instead. Hell, if it were an AM4 in that form factor at $1k, I'd be running over my children to get to it.

1: I cannot stand having to turn on my computer to do anything personal, it’s because I work in IT. It’s why I have an Xbox and not a PC for gaming

1b: I still like the ability to control a device with my Mac if I want that

2: I mostly use my real amp with a loadbox integrated into my modeler unless I’m away from my desk

3: I really like being able to capture my amp and be able to use my tone whenever I want to

4: I love a touchscreen for building presets and general navigation of a device

5: Cortex Cloud is sick - being able to share your captures and presets and IRs using your iPhone over the cloud and not have to turn on a computer is a win for me

6: this device is the perfect size for a desk setup that checks all the above boxes

This might be what you were looking for-

QC Owners- “NDSP, PLEASE pick up the pace on the QC updates”

NDSP- “Here, have a Nano Cortex”

QC Owners- “It’s been FIVE years and I feel like PCOM is the only priority for the QC. Can you give us some kind of timeline for development of the QC that doesn’t involve PCOM?”

NDSP- “Here’s a Mini QC”

I applaud their ability to fail upwards consistently with a mild golf clap and am absolutely not surprised they released something I have not seen a single NDSP/QC owner ask for, that will expand their profits while not having to put any additional effort into their day to day (that part IS smart business)). Just as I’m not surprised to find people attracted to it like moths to a flame, I’m just clueless as to why.

The more time goes on the more I think I’m just becoming detached from this entire planet. If Fractal released that I’d say “WTF would I do with that?” despite 98% of my playing being at a desk. If it were a $200 sidecar/controller, THAT I could maybe understand, but a $1400 unit?! I can’t wrap my head around this one at all.
Like I said... I know whose house I'm in.

What's in CorOS 4.0?

I mean, most companies listen to their customer base and get an idea of what their customers want to see from them and in NDSP’s case, that’s definitely not hard to do because every single post they put on social media has people asking for QC content.

From a “How do we expand our profits and get more customers?” POV, sure, listen to Fractal’s customers, but from a “How do we keep our customers happy and satisfied with what they bought?”….well, this is the part where I feel like I’m becoming further detached from this planet, because that’s never been a priority for NDSP and the customer base simply says “Thank you, sell me another one, please”

Probably just me projecting, in my line of work we tend to have our customers around for 5-10 year intervals and after we get them to sign a lease, we spend the next 5-10 years upholding what’s written in the lease and doing what we can to make them as content as could be. Pretty much did the same in the restaurant business, except it was much smaller costs and 30-60 minute intervals. This very clearly is not NDSP’s business plan, mission or interest, so it’s silly of me to think they should operate in that way.

I mean, of course the folks that already own a QC product are gonna yell "give me more free stuff". Your "customer base" assumes its people that are going to be buying stuff from you moving forward. Which...kind of auto excludes people that are asking for you to add free stuff to the thing they bought, but don't have interest in buying other stuff from you.

So "listen to their customer base" seems like it necessarily means "listening to folks that are looking for something in the modeling space that the market isn't yet providing" regardless of what sticker they currently have in their rear windshield.

I think that argument of looking for something in ANY space that the market isn’t providing is just the smartest business no matter what it applies to
