Quad Cortex Mini

Neural has outgrown the residual angst of the initial launch and the ongoing PCOM development saga. The broader market doesn’t give a shit and their sales are probably telling them they shouldn’t give a shit either.

Device seems cool as hell to me and if anything it just puts another device out there that should make others consider stepping their game up too.

Buy the product? Maybe. Keep the product? Maybe. Love NDSP?
No No No GIF

:rofl
If I said it once I've said it a hundred times: I've never even met NDSP. ;)

My only concern is that you're finally considering a QC, and you're not going after the one you'd probably like best. :idk

This is SUCH a loaded question.

I would take a different tack: describe exactly what you need to do, and what MIDI controller you would prefer to do it with. Then we can have a conversation.

That's one answer. The other answer is: I find it very easy, because I make a point of keeping things very simple.
Engage effects, change snapshots and presets. Mostly?

Easy peasy.

(Depending on your controller, you may have issues with LED states properly reflecting effects bypass when you change presets. Which is a problem with just about every competing product as well, unless you buy into their proprietary controller(s).)

QC mini in one pocket, MC3 in the other. Yes, indeed I'm happy to see you lovely people!! Now lemme pull my rig outta my pants and melt yo' faces!!!!

Yeah, but it's a sensible solution for someone who wanted the QC on the desktop and already had a MIDI controller on the floor. This arguably eliminates some redundancy.

On the other hand...

One major attraction of having the QC on the desk was all the encoders, and the QCM removes most of them. Yes, the touchscreen is fine 90% of the time, but still.

I'm looking at it and trying to find its pros and cons vs. full-fat QC. The price difference is pretty slim as we've noted, so I don't think people are going to tolerate much in the way of cons.

Pros:
-smaller, lighter
-better ergonomics for touchscreen-heavy use on desktop
-USB-C. I hate USB-B connectors.
-$400 cheaper, which isn't nothing, I guess. I sometimes forget how expensive the OG QC has gotten. Hopefully street price on the QCM will come down a little.

Cons:
-Fewer encoders. I'll be curious to see how 4.0 optimizes for the encoder placement.
-Input 1 is now 1/4" - no longer a combo jack. Probably fine since 99% of us are running at least one guitar into the thing.
-Input 2 is on the side. Ew, but I get it.
-MIDI is now on 1/8". I get it, but ew. I've got wireless MIDI dongles that pull power from the QC 5-pin.
-Send and return are ganged to stereo pairs. Again, I get it, but ew.
-Send and return are curiously distant from one another. Minor, but I'll be reaching for my reading glasses Every. Damn. Time.

Unknown:
-Maybe it will draw less current? I'd love to do a tiny QCM board with battery power, if I could use a lighter battery than the beast I use with my "live" QC.
It does have lower power requirements - 1.2 A vs 3

Gotta say that this is a weird design. When I first saw it, I thought "ok, at least the distance between the switches isn't an issue anymore" - but what about editing using the left encoders with your right hand? You'll instantly not see the display pretty much at all anymore, which is kinda stupid.
2x2 switches below the screen would've been much better IMO.

Featurewise this is quite nice, though - but not €1.300 nice IMO, not even remotely.

I don't get the gripes about the price. It's almost functionally equivalent to the QC, so why shouldn't the price be nearly the same?
Agreed - it’s not like the VP4 or Stomp in that it’s limited. Or even the FM3. It’s like if FAS came out with an FM9 equivalent powered touchscreen device - and this sub would cream over that lol
