Absolutely... that was a BIG issue. I suffered myself in a gig where there was no 3G/4G/5G signal and I couldn´t tweak simple preset levels.

Now that´s working totally fine.

This is supposedly fixed with the firmware update to 2.2.0:

Yep, it’s app only. I was sceptical but as if now I’ve had a pretty good experience with it.

I think of "app" as meaning "application" and being non-platform specific, so I didn't really understand this post until I read Desertdweller's reply. If there's a smartphone app, that's probably sufficient and in most cases preferable - provided you have a compatible smartphone, of course.

My original impression was that you had no choice but to edit presets, etc. on device (which seems like it would be a nightmare.)

I usually wind up with about 30-40 different presets in any unit I’m using. If I find a sound that I really like, I save it. Plus with Fractal especially, I have full rig presets, clean-specific presets, 4CM presets, synth, bass, violin IR presets, etc. I might only use 1 preset when I’m recording my usual guitar parts, but I keep a lot of custom presets because I never really use the stock ones, I prefer to make my own. Most stock presets are just dripping with reverb too and that’s not my deal.

I've been rolling with a single kitchen sink preset for a couple of years now, but I had to clone to a 2nd variation for this weekend's practice. (Out of block locations and I needed that Transpose we're always on about.) More than 1 preset feels like poisoning the well. I'm already going crazy trying to keep amp tweaks, etc. in sync between them.

I only use presets as references to tones I may not use all the time but want to easily get to when I’m fuckin around.

OK, I guess I actually make a lot of new presets while I'm experimenting with new amps and effects, but I seldom revisit them. And then I've got one "serious" known-quantity preset that I hold to when the band arrives.

Your comment about presets with too much reverb made me laugh, because most of the QC factory presets are way too dry for my taste.

I hear you! For me I like rhythm guitar dry as a bone. Digital delay and some reverb on leads, some cavernous reverb and sparkly delay on cleans. Most stock presets on Fractal have just too much reverb for me.

I'e been trying to talk myself into a factory reset on my QCs for about 2 years now,. But even with the backup, I get nervous about losing track of some specific sound that I tracked 70% of some old project with. As if I'm ever going to go back and finish those projects...

The main reason for wanting to clean up all the "chaff" is, I still think the QC's search functionality is kind of borked. It's my only real, outstanding complaint about the UX. I'll start downloading captures, and then I'll sort to pull recent captures to the top, and sometimes - but not always - those captures will appear. Then I'll sort by name, and sometimes but not always... Then I'll use the Search feature, and... you get the idea. I'm not sure whether having less content on the thing (when my personal content is probably a drop in the bucket vs. the factory stuff) will help, but it's worth a try?

And yes, I have two of them, so why not go nuclear on one, right? Maybe tonight. :)
