Is there anything LESS fun than spending $350 on patch cables…

:blanket

As it turns out, yes there is. Getting slapped with a $160 tariff fee on a $300 pedalboard :(

Just wanted to throw out a friendly heads up for anyone shopping for pedalboards. Hands Custom are based in Brazil and ship from there. I bought my board from them for ~$300.

A couple months later I got a text from FedEx. At first I thought it was a scam, but it’s legit. I owe them $157 in fees to cover tariffs.

So, friendly non-political heads up: if you order something from them and you’re in the US plan for an additional 40-50% fee on top of the sticker price you pay

Uh, weren't the t-words overturned by the SCOTUS and didn't lower courts order refunds?

I would tell FedEx to get their money from the Feds unless they can show the amounts were from legitimate T-words that haven't been tossed.

refunds hahahahahhahahaha oh man that made me chuckle

Yeah… I wondered about that too.

My guess is that what will happen is I’ll have to pay FedEx, then FedEx will get reimbursed by the feds, but then FedEx won’t reimburse me when that happens.

Maybe I’m being cynical about it, but I’m not expecting FedEx to voluntarily offer reimbursements for fees they’ve collected.

That's why I would push back on FedEx to justify the charges. I am trying to get a refund from DHL for a purchase I made and it would be a lot easier had I not already paid them. Might have to try canceling payment from the credit card side.

That’s probably smart, but honestly I’m questioning if it’s worth all the hassle they’re gonna put me through to fight it with them. It’s a challenge to even figure out how to talk to a real person at FedEx.

I don’t know if the money is worth the headache… of course I know they probably count on people feeling that way which is also really annoying…

Right now FedEx’s position is “pay us now and if we get reimbursed by the Feds we’ll pay you back. Trust us”

I am the EXACT same way. I value my time more than my money. I'll see people backed
up to save 10 cents on a gallon of gas, and burn far more than that while their vehicles
run and they sit and wait.

Or my one good friend who is all like, "I called ------------Mobile Service and was on the
phone for 4 hours with them this week. Gonna save $10 on my bill this month."

:facepalm

I can make more money. Always. Time. Not so much.

I always found it disgustingly hilarious that shipping is factored into customs/VAT calculations.

Where's true globalization when we actually need it?

Oh, it is definitely going to get better with certain "people" literally blowing up an entire system that took decades to build
and create some kind of stability in an unstable world.

But who needs that?

We love a good demolition, though, don't we?? :crazy
