Looking to snag either the Venetian Blue Silver Sky or Fender Vintage II '61 White Strat

I already have a Fender Ultra and while not a traditional fender, I'm tempted to go the PRS. I know some here don't like JM but most of the reviews Ive seen on the guitar speak highly of it. Whereas the Fender seems to have some QC issues?

Anyway, anyone have any insight on either guitar 😃

Unfortunately my wallet doesn't 🤣

What you hoping to get out of them that your Ultra doesn't offer? :idk

There is no virtue in 7.25” and small frets .
The vintage II series are very good faithful replicas of old strats without a bit price. The PRS is a good guitar too but the looks are questionable imo. Solid quality guitar though as long as you don’t mind the limitations of the frets and radius.

Unless you just play rhythm and don't bend much. They are very comfortable in the hand, imo. For me, the small frets just don't excel for how I want play most times. I do have a few guitars with 7.25" radius, love them, but I've also refretted with 6000s so the performance level is much more to my liking.

I’m also one who appreciates the small fret & 7.25 radius combo on vintage spec fenders. I guess it’s not been an issue because I don’t play a ton of lead guitar.

Both are good, and different. Ultimately for me there is something about the way the Fender sounds that I like better when I’ve played both side by side.

It’s very much a personal preference thing though, someone else might like the sound of the PRS better

I sold my american pro II strat and bought an SE silver sky :sofa

The Am. Pro is a superior guitar (shouldn't come as a surprise) but the SE is quite excellent. I rarely play strats/single coil and I was able to pocket some extra cash and still have my strat box ticked when the occasional desire arises

IDK about the core versions but on the SE maple the neck is very chunky and more vintage feeling

Good advice up in here. If you've never tried a more vintage-y Strat, then
you owe it to yourself to try one, Josh.

You may hate it. You might love it. They are comfy. And if you stay clear of the
Boomer Bends (mostly) they can be a joy to play.

I've never played one! I'm sure it could go either way so maybe I'll check out a local store to see what they have. I'm leaning towards the fender for authenticity and cheaper pricing 😬

It's so easy to just shop online, order, and then wait at home for the package to arrive.

I do it, too, because I don't have any other options due to where I live. :idk

Some of the older Mexi-Strats like the 50's Classic Player Series, Roadworns, or Highway
One Strats can be great vintage-y options, too.

It’s been a long time since I played one, but I remember thinking the Silver Sky neck felt a lot like a vintage Strat, but it sounded more like a modern Strat while the AVII felt and sounded more like a vintage Strat
