POLYEND ENDLESS

I waiver between a text prompt effect generator being really really cool or a complete time sink. Maybe both. Maybe a great rainy day pedal? Interesting to see this stuff make it to the market.

BlueCat has a plugin you can code your own effects into a instant VST wrapper, and Max has RNBO that let's you shell bonkers Max patches into a VST, but having a code recepticle on the floor is the shit!

Thing is i bet you can now use those other tools to first get your code and copy it straight in. plus this will be an academic goldmine for someone trying to dable in learning code, cause once you get the code for something you made with the library you no doubt will get curious how to actually poke around in the guts lol

The intersection of every way in which I've been made obsolete, in one pretty package.

Fuck AI, but... It's kind of awesome, though?

Does anyone else think it’s weird that this digital pedal that advertises itself as AI and code driven makes you physically put a piece of cardboard on it to make it look like the pedal you have loaded??

All that AI driven design and you couldn’t figure out how to make it a screen that automatically loads when you load a new pedal in the device??

The whole thing screams AI cash grab gimmick. No thanks

also can it really provide anything new in this day and age in sounds? I'm skeptical.

that's the thing, the cold answer is no, it will just combine basics in new ways that are hard to make out. what I'm excited about is if it will be good at coding specific movement to base effects, like explain an envelope or weird LFO shape and make it loop that automation attached to a parameter. different non standard motion across multiple parameters, that's where it would be invaluable to me

I'm torn between 3 things... Fuck AI, but also cool, but also fuck microtransactions,
Is it really micro transactions? I mean if you want to design your own custom effect with the help of AI someone has to foot the bill - that's hardly micro-transactions no?

Have they mention charging per effect download? They way I read it is all shared effects would be free and I'm assuming Polyend creations would be too? Is it not?

also can it really provide anything new in this day and age in sounds? I'm skeptical.
Up to your imagination no? (well up to the system horsepower and interface I suppose)

I'd love to read some people's prompts:

"An amazing delay, please"
"A distortion that sounds tasty but brutalist"
"The most beautiful chorus in the history of human kind"
"An overdrive that will make me more charismatic than the other guitarist in the band"
"A fuzz that sounds like coffee in the morning""
