I do wonder if there is a way to make general "discussion about X" threads and "actual users of X" threads separate? Certainly people should have a place to work out their IBS issues, but would be better if it didn't gum up the works so badly for the folks that are actually just trying to have a "let's share what we know about the device that we use" place.

Maybe repurpose the inline spoiler tags? Example:

It seems odd to single out specific social media platforms when all social media is being so effectively weaponized at this point.

We’re all in an information bubble. If you think you aren’t, you’re gullible AF.

People need to stop scrolling and go get involved with their neighbors and local communities. Our neighbors aren’t our enemies, despite all the culture war BS out there.


Sadly, it’s frequently those oh-so-wholesome folks pointing their fingers at others who end up being the worst around kids. Several of our unspecified religious institutions have the receipts to prove it.

I recall the naivete' of the dawn of the Information Age and how this was
going to make the bestest of all wisdom and knowledge instantly and
easily accessible to everyone at any time. Good thing. Like another Age
of Enlightenment was upon us.

Too bad it was far too idealistic, and now we all ride upon the Disinformation
Superhighway playing Bumper Cars at High Speed.

Unless and until we take the next exit.

Ha. I often forget that place exists. After I found this place my involvement there slowly declined to near-zero.







Drew is right. It's mostly the QC thread. Although it's theoretically a "QC" thread it's mostly just folks bashing on NDSP. Whenever I got a notification that there was a new post in that thread I fully expected it to be someone dropping a "look, another person bitching about NDSP" post or another "look what NDSP did now" or similar. And although I like my QC, I also totally get the vitriol aimed at NDSP--they annoy me too. I just (futilely) wish that specific thread wasn't the main spewing ground for it. Then again if it wasn't, the thread would probably be on page 4 or 5 Regardless, I turned off notifications for that thread now at one point I was looking for a way to actually hide that thread from the list. Couldn't find one so I'll just resolve to generally ignore it.

Anyway I feel like I'm seeing that kind of negativity in more threads than has been in the past. Might be just because I'm so fed up with that specific thread though lol


You know, it's really not even the negativity in general. It's that so much of the negativity in that thread isn't even about the QC. Hell, if I'm being honest this post is probably also due to being fed up with other shit IRL. Even that stuff ain't actually serious at all. So yeah, this is kinda me having a temper tantrum

But yeah, it definitely has been spoiling my enjoyment of the forum a bit. It seems a far cry from the fun and friendly vibe I got when I first signed up and the first thing I had to do was answer what kind of pickles I liked. Which is actually a stupid question because the only real pickle is a dill pickle. Sweet pickleishthings are an abomination and should be eradicated.

I just left a meeting with my boss and construction manager where my boss started with “Let’s just get this out of the way now so I don’t trip over all the ‘I told you so’s’ during this meeting, you were right and we should have listened to you”

So I’ll say here what I say every time it’s mentioned here at work- ‘I’ll never actually say the words myself and the ideas aren’t born out of pessimism or power trips, I just want to avoid as much BS and working harder than we have to as much as we possibly can”

Except at work, “we” means “Drew and his staff, not the people that didn’t listen to Drew”

I think that block is how I got my WDW preset working. One of those blend blocks. Kinda simple but ended up being a bit of a life saver.
