Got a couple new bois unboxed and tested yesterday. Just started playing with a new band so thought I’d try these out at their rehearsal spot. They have a few cans about since there’s a venue they own as well. Even with this old ass Carvin can with “undisclosed” speakers, they both sounded righteous.

Congrats! Always wanted to try a Driftwood.
Thanks! I’d definitely recommend them for sure. Very cool amps. I’ll be doing KPA, QC and Tonex packs for sure.

Very cool! What made you choose the Darkest vs Purple?
Honestly I rarely use clean channels. I find the Darkest also to be a little tighter overall.

Also, this amp and I have a little history. When Driftwood launched the Darkest at NAMM in 2020, Marek was actually one of the first people there I interviewed. We did a vid for it and he and I have gotten on well ever since. He’s a great guy and has always been cool to hang with at NAMM.

This year I told him I was finally going to plunk down for a build and I played both the Purple, Signature and Darkest again at NAMM and the Darkest just seems to sound best for me. That plus that’s the amp I got introduced to the brand with seemed a no brainer.

Amazing man. Looks killer!

I think I read somewhere that Marek said these were basically his version of a Recto. But most people who have played them say they're more like a 5150. Either way, they sound killer.

Whenever I think of Driftwood, I think of the demo by Keith Merrow and Frank Fleckenstein:

Both make it sound huge. It's the Purple though, not as many videos of the Darkest.
