" Peak " Digital Modeler Y/T Pointlessness

Yeah there's definitely some weapons grade tools in those videos. I binge watched them in a haze of sick fascination a couple of years ago. Spent every video alternating between laughter and thinking "this cunt's too stupid to be alive"
I’m about 50/50 on whether the guy with the camera or the cops are the dumber most of the time. American law enforcement is a fuckin joke.

To be fair, I think that when reading about 45.2% of the posts on this forum. 23.9% of those are mine!

If there wasn’t constant non-existent drama nobody would watch. He knows that

Actually, I watch a ton of his videos because I can steal EJ licks from him easier than I can steal them from EJ. I’m actually a Patreon subscriber of John’s, dude’s got some great lessons. Andy Wood, too.

I think I give Cordy a free pass for the clickbaity stuff because I’ve never gotten the idea that he actually wants to be a Youtuber but saw it as a revenue stream that could allow him to not deal with a day job. He was pretty cut and dry when he stopped working with Truefire and got the D’Addario sponsorship in that regard, flat out saying “I have no integrity left”, which I took more as “I don’t really give a shit about Youtube credibility, I have a wife and kid to feed”

I don't dislike him and I follow his channel as well, it just seems that the past year or so his channel is weekly (or daily) contradictions and forced controversy. Perhaps that's why the sponsors are no longer present?

Also, I get what you're saying and I don't want to be hyperbolic but I think the world has enough people with the attitude "Screw integrity, I need to make money"

I’d imagine the sponsors would likely be happy with anything generating clicks, bait or not. Hahahah it’s not integrity starts in a company’s boardroom then dwindles down as a product makes it’s way to the consumer.

And I very much hear ya on the last part, it’s something I’ve wrestled with professionally and personally to great extent and have essentially come to a draw; while a lot of it I could not participate in myself, I can very much understand why others would, but neither of those ideas makes dealing with the cause and effect of that mentality any better when it comes to fruition, or doesnt at all.

Nah. He told me he just wanted to play more guitar when he first started his channel. He wasn't anticipating such a boost in profile at all. He used to post a fair bit on thefretboard, but I don't think he does these days. He puts all of his social media energy into his YT channel.

That only supports my idea that his original idea wasn’t to be a Youtuber. Seems silly to not capitalize on it if the channel was doing it on its own. Can’t say I haven’t had similar ideas, I never really look at view counts on my channel but when I saw them the other day I was quite surprised to see a lot of videos are in the 800-1500 views without any promotion or ‘youtubing’, I just upload them straight from my phone. I’m curious what it would look like if I spent a day or two learning some decent editing software and applying 5% of effort into making a video.

If anything I think JNC is underrated when you consider the Herculean amount output he’s created. He’s put out several videos a week for years, almost all of which have a decent amount of playing with backing tracks, and are edited. That’s a lot of work. And despite the clickbaity titles and sponsored content, everything I’ve seen has had integrity.

I can’t imagine anyone could watch everything he’s put out because there’s too much to be interested in it all. At that pace of output the experience is more like listening to radio, where you listen to the songs you like and change the channel when it’s a song you hate. But he’s reliably there to tune into when you want.

Ok. this guy is a great player.

But he puts out a video every 15 seconds ranging from QC / Stadium / Axe is best .... then no they're not ... then they are ... then they cant beat real Amps .. then they can ..... and does this on what seems to be a monthly cycle ... and every now and then there's a video saying he had a good poo etc.....

But now, its Modelers "aren't water-proof" - I'm paraphrasing .... 12 min 43 sec !!!

5 min 17 sec mark ... "water could pool inside the FM9 and the FM9 has jacks on the back and little ventilation holes on the sides" ..... at least the Nobel Committee wont have any trouble awarding next years Nobel Prize for Science.

You couldn't make this shit up if you tried !?!?!?!?!?!?

Maybe they should be IP67 compliant ;) Cliff, Eric, CK. Doug are you listening !!!

I really like John and his videos, even when he's critical of Line 6. And his playing is superb.

He recently dedicated an entire video to an offhanded out-of-context comment I made on FB (complete with the worst thumbnail he could find—y'know, for the lulz), and it attracted the most bottom feeding of bottom feeding trolls to his comment section. But... it's all about the clicks, so I can't hate.

Yeah sorry about that mate, I'd had a few beers like. No hard feelings.

<ducks>

Monetize that personality! :pickle

The issue is that these videos generate revenue for the producers. As with most things it's simply about the money. The more videos they make the more ad revenue sharing they get. It's all about clicks. The actual content and the veracity of the content is immaterial.

I like John though. He's a great player and his online personality is pleasing.
