I like Cordy :bag I may not watch most of his videos; but he has always seemed cool.
Yeah me too. He seems like a good guy and he’s a really really good player. Having a on camera personality that works is a tricky and I think it’s something that could be learned however he’s a bit cringe for me so that makes me not watch him a lot. I think part of that though is I hate click bait material. But it must work… evidently.

He has a good sense of humor as well. And for the most part; 100% knows he's trolling the viewers. Like ToneJunkie but more of a ripper.

I’m sure you’re probably right. If true that both of them troll and know it…that’s an even bigger turn off for me. Who knows maybe that’s the only way to grow a channel. That’s very sad if it’s the case.

Yeah it's a tough game I am betting. There's only so much new musical gear that gets released and either sent to you or you rolling the dice to borrow or buy to create that kind of content. His angle is pick a singluar topic (4 times a day lol) and make the equivalent of a video accompanied forum thread on a much farther reaching platform.

I think all YT channels are like this, no matter what the core subject/interest is.

The only yt gear dudes I still tune for are Leon Todd and Brett Kingman. Both Aussies…maybe there’s less bullshit down under.

I agree - not because I'm Aussie as well .... but we all know Leon and Brett are fully invested in and "endorsee's" for Fractal - which is brilliant and never hidden .... but the really great part is that they do review a stack of non-Fractal stuff and do it fairly and objectively ... and never shit on it by saying things like "its good but its not a Fractal" !!

Fun fact ..... when Brett was knee deep in playing the Melbourne Pub Scene in the mid-late-80's on - so was I.

He was in "The Adventure" .... my band was " Boys Keep Swinging" .... we did an untold number of shows with them on the same line-ups ... they were the days when a Pub would do maybe 3 or 4 bands a night, 3 or 4 days a week.

I remember at the time Brett was a great player and a great guy - still a great guy - and his playing has just gotten better and better and he has been pretty much full-time with an Icon of Aussie Rock, James Reyne

Those were the days :)

I like JNC too, but these days he simply puts out far too much content, so I rarely bother watching now.

Last I checked, he was putting out two videos a day!
Gotta bring home that bacon!

Owned it from new and main amp for 10 years
Bought one again a couple years ago thinking surely I know amps better than when I was young….. nope, the tone was almost ptsd and it didn’t hang around long. Got the jvm410h…. It’s the TSL we all deserved in the first place, so so so much better.
I'm ready for the next step in the TSL...JVM...? evolution

I don't think Cordy has much of an on-camera personality and seems like a chill dude - even if he has a pretty narrow thing he does and kinda ends up sounding about the same on a lot of great. Which I do too, so that's not some negative! I think we all have a particular sound in our heads that we gravitate towards.

But when YouTube becomes a thing that makes you some money, your priorities change. Smaller channels will often get offers from various less known brands to review their gear. Maybe get some gear, maybe make some money...depends on the deal. But now it's not something to showcase things you are passionate about, but a business to run.

With that business you then end up chasing the views. YT wants you to regularly push out content for you to be visible in people's feeds. So you make some shorts. Then you start adding stupid faces and clickbait titles so people are more likely to click open your video. It quicky gets annoying and excessive for viewers.

Like for example I wanted to follow Novo Guitars on Instagram, just to see some cool guitars every once in a while. But no, Novo spams stories with like 3 dozen different clips. I had to mute their stories so they don't show up. I'm not going to click through 3 dozen pics of guitars from one brand one by one so I can get to e.g something a friend posted which is more important to me.

IMO the That Pedal Show style "one video per week" pace is about right. We shouldn't be in this constant marketing push for different products.

Does it? because YT is pushing what viewers are clicking on - it's a symbiotic relationship. It's never one sided .

Yeah for whatever reason, YT content doesnt really hook me. If I’m watching something it’s more one off, like Leon Todd’s FW update overviews. Some days the internet just feels like an endless sea of talking faces who are always trying to stir up drama, and I realized…I simply don’t care. It’s beautiful. To be clear, I’m not above any of it, it just does absolutely nothing for me. My vice will probably remain forum-like venues.

(On re-reading, it’s clear that the real reason is I’m just getting older.)

Ok. this guy is a great player.

But he puts out a video every 15 seconds ranging from QC / Stadium / Axe is best .... then no they're not ... then they are ... then they cant beat real Amps .. then they can ..... and does this on what seems to be a monthly cycle ... and every now and then there's a video saying he had a good poo etc.....

But now, its Modelers "aren't water-proof" - I'm paraphrasing .... 12 min 43 sec !!!

5 min 17 sec mark ... "water could pool inside the FM9 and the FM9 has jacks on the back and little ventilation holes on the sides" ..... at least the Nobel Committee wont have any trouble awarding next years Nobel Prize for Science.

You couldn't make this shit up if you tried !?!?!?!?!?!?

Maybe they should be IP67 compliant ;) Cliff, Eric, CK. Doug are you listening !!!

He makes up ideas to make vids with to get clicks.. that’s all really. He is very wishy washy and buys them all and makes vids for clicks so he makes more money from yt…. Welcome to influencers

His guitar reviews are utter crap from a technical standpoint. In fairness all gear reviews should be a presentation of the facts and hardly any are. They should warn about the likely variables in the price point and have the knowledge base to inform you how to evaluate a particular example as to whether it’s shortcomings make it a pass or fail. Also making sure you don’t pass on exceptional potential because of an easily corrected lacking.
Nobody should pass on a guitar for fret sprout for instance particularly if it is a great piece of wood. The thing to fail it on is over bevelled frets and fretboard pretending to be edge roll and dead spots.
