Nice! I love Palmers. Been using them for decades. They're not as detailed and "accurate" as IRs in a studio environment but lthey sound great live and cut through like nothing else.

I have a 2x12/4x12 cab in (almost) every room in the house, when I switch cabs rolling them from room to room I get the (probably deserved) evil eye.

Sadly, home is the only venue I play anymore that actually allows a cab that large. I so miss the fun of cranking up a 4x12 on stage.

Got the Palmer in last night. Finally got a chance to play with it for a few.

Pros:
1. Build is phenomenal. Very sturdy.
2. Bright cab is GREAT to my ears. Which is a surprise to no one as I like cab emulation bordering on "Is there cab emulation at all on this heavy guitar sound?"

My own Con because I'm dumb:
1. Levels were super quiet. This is a me thing mainly because I didn't realize I'd need to connect it to a mixer It is a passive box after all so duh.

Actual Cons
1. Speaker emulation selection knob is recessed and kind of clunky to turn. Not a big deal as I only liked the one and it would be set and forget.

I tried my MW with it as first while using the Suhr and it was too much for my brain. No fault on it it was just too crazy of a setup to start the day out with

Used my III JVM preset with it next and it was good. Odd thing is it sounded just like me and the Boss IR sounds AKA tone is the hands strikes again.

Tried it with the VP4 and the Suhr Riot pedal acting as an "amp" and it sounded the best oddly enough. I could do a heavy gig with that so far from traditional it's not funny set up.

Overall; pleased. Got it with a gift card so no money out of pocket. I think I'd really like to try it into a PA (as it should be done) where you could drive the piss out of what it's giving you vs. me not being too sure whether this Fender FR can do what it needs with what it puts out. Great piece of kit if you dig the baked in cabs I'd say and aren't wanting the ol' rabbit hole.

I think your opinion of it will go higher once you hear it in a live mix. That's where Palmer stuff really shines.

Yeah all this even loud af home alone tone chasing is really kinda wheel spinning till you get with the band out live. I do wonder how that loadbox of theirs is? Both this and especially their cab merger is got a few weeks back have been super useful.

Yes. I use 1 IR with everything. It's a Boss IR and it sounds super direct. The bright cab in the Palmer reminds me a lot of it. Which really isn't answering your question, I'm afraid

You are great with cab variety in a live setting. I'd think you'd feel kind of stunted with a single speaker approach? I think the best way to try it is as Billy said; live with the band through a LOUD PA.
