JVM 205C. Yea or nay?

I see them for what looks like decent prices sometimes. I kiiiiinda have been interested in Marshall a bit again…although the little Badlander 25 head is still straight up badass.

So 205C. Explore further or nah?

at least in the UK, you can find a 410 for very little more than what a 205 goes for. I think a 205 would only make you want a 410 more.

And I’d take a DSL over any JVM personally, but that’s more of a personal preference thing.

I've seen them cheap locally a few times recently and been tempted as well. I remember not caring for them when they came out but I've noticed myself leaning more towards those Marshall sounds now. Knowing me, like @MirrorProfiles said - I'd probably want the 410 thinking I'm missing something

Why do you prefer the DSL?

I played a DSL100HR last week and I liked it more than I expected. I am thinking about picking one up.

The DSLs do get a lot of love. Rightly so imo. I’ve had a DSL40C twice (very good amps). I also had a DSL40CR for a few days and while it was pretty good I didn’t like it as much.

I find JVM’s a bit too polished and refined, DSL’s are more wild and loose which makes them more responsive and dynamic. JVM’s are more modern, more compressed, darker.

Here in Finland the two channel JVMs are never cheap enough to be worth buying over the 410.

The 205 doesn’t have the 410’s OD1, which is the reason you buy a JVM. Go 410.

I doubt we’ll see much of anything new out of Marshall moving forward. They have a Studio 900 FFS, that’s as shark jumping as it gets.

The 2 series lacks the good channels of the 410. Like all the worst of the 410 and very little of the good. But I’d agree that the DSL can be “better” for some things. It’s more “open”.

I rocked a 210h for a bit, pretty cool amp took it out to several gigs. I got a pretty killer deal too… head plus 1960 4x12 for $1200 (just had to make a day trekking to get it)

It’s a cool amp but other amps are more suited to me personally. As others have mentioned supposedly the best modes aren’t found on the two channel versions. I can’t speak to that but I liked all the modes available on the one I had
