Yes, turns out that the almost no-latency is a big factor in the "feel". This thing "feels" like a real amp when you touch the strings. The dynamics, touch, and response are the best I've played through in a while. I am reserving any other comments because I want this honeymoon period to pass over, and want to spend more time getting to know my way around the tones and sounds in here.

But the switching capabilities, ease of editing and the DSP power feels really liberating (coming from the HX Stomp). More soon!

My oh my, I won't spoil the fun. So let's rather leave it at that here - any other opinions in the GT-1000 thread.
I respect your opinions. And yes I can hear and "feel" the compression for sure. I find it satisfying though (kinda like setting master on high, and higher sag and bias on HX, which I used to do a lot for certain kinds of tones on the HX), it reminds of the "tube compression" characteristics from some of the tube amps I have owned and played. How it sits in the mix and with a band, live and on stage, is yet to be seen.

My 2 cents...I've had mine now for about 2 weeks. Toyed with it, made a handful of patches. Coming from Fractal-land, the GX is a great grab and go unit. The editor is garbage and not nearly as robust as AxeEdit or L6. The sounds you can get from the GX are pretty good from cleans to high gain. There is a compressed and almost "fake" sound to a lot of the tones, but in a weird good way. Will it replace my FM9 or AF3 (or real gear)..no way. That's like getting rid of a Ferrari for a Corvette. But like I said, easy to use, easy to grab and go, and easy to get some great tones out of this both live and in the studio.

The Tuner, it's great! Very stable; way way way more stable than the Helix/HX Stomp, and it's a breath of fresh air. Also, the polyphonic tuner is pretty awesome, replaced my need for going out and buying a TC Polytune. Really really good.

I wish HX had a polyphonic tuner...and a better tuner period.

Turns out you can record from this directly to your Android device (and maybe iOS too). Just make sure you select "Generic" as the USB driver, from Menu -> USB.

Wtf? Why don't they offer that on the GTs? Would save me from purchasing one of the WIDI things. Also, class compliant USB audio would be great for jamming with no computer.

I didn't expect it. I was fooling around with the settings, saw that setting and I got excited. Tested it and I was very pleasantly surprised.

The "pitch shifter" which can be rigger to be a "poly capo", is pretty awesome. Being able to run dual amps, with an almost full effect chain and a polycapo that tracks awesome blows my mind. I can even have a feedbacker in the chain and it doesn't bat an eyelash

Do we know what the practical differences are? Can you just use Generic all the time for everything, including with the editor?

I think it needs to be set to vendor if the device does not recognize this as a class compliant device and doesnt know which driver to use. That's from my limited knowledge and quick Googling. The documentation seem to indicate that there is benefit of using VENDOR when supported:

Seriously, if that would work, the processing and algorithms must be heaps better than on the GT. Because it's all a wobbly mess on the GT, even with the thing sitting at "slow", which is introducing horrible latency (even "medium" is pretty bad already).

Well, that description does sort of check out on my end with GX-100 as well. Good enough for simple riffs, and ornamentation, and certain kinds of solo-ing, with the tone dressed in a bit of effects. Doesn't sounds "perfect" when the tone is naked, but I will take that. The tracking is not bad at all to be honest, much better than I have felt on the HX Stomp for sure.
