Relic warning for those who get triggered by such things.

Having no SS Tele on hand, I was on the verge of grabbing a chambered Player II because I've come to really enjoy lightweight guitars and those can come in under 6lbs (I'm spoiled by Strandberg). The only issue I had with that plan was that those have gloss poly finishes and I really wanted something nitro/relic'd.

I reached out to MJT in early June and had them build me a Thinline body but with no F-hole. It's roasted pine to further decrease weight. I purchased an in-stock neck from Warmoth and had it sent to MJT for finish and a relic job. MJT also provided most of the hardware. I found some Player II pickups on Reverb. We'll see if I want to swap them out down the line but they seem pretty good for now.

I finished assembling it yesterday and my initial impression is very positive overall. It plays well and came in at only 5lbs 8oz. The relic job on the body seems great. I really like what they did. I'm much less a fan of the relic job on the neck as it just looks quite unrealistic but it's fine. I did a little bit of work with some stain to try to get it a little better. I'm not sure it did much but whatever.

Here are some pics.

Very nice!
If you want the distressing a bit darker on the neck maybe try a dark wax?
Yeah I tried a fairly dark stain and it definitely darkened things up a little. I'm leaning towards leaving it alone now but we'll see. Next time I have the strings neck off I might mess with it some more. Here are some pics of when it first arrived.
