NGD: Fender American Original 60’s Telecaster

That's stinkin' gorgeous, @EOengineer .
:chef

Once I snag and settle on what 50's Era Tele to go with I am
all about that 60s T Custom.

Can I ask which one you gravitate towards and play more?
The 60s AO would be the keeper if I had to choose. I have a really hard time with Fender production models because I love the 50s neck (chunky) but the 60s aesthetic with the cool metallic automotive colors and occasional double binding. The AO 60s has more meat on the neck (at least some do) so it’s become my sort of Goldilocks telecaster.

The 52 reissue is awesome though, especially the one I lucked out on.

That's why I ended up going the partscaster route with mine. Fat neck on a 60s spec tele FTW. :beer

All you fat neck lovers are even more defective than the left handed players! :D
The AO 60s is fairly middle of the road and most wouldn’t say it’s overtly chunky, but it’s chunkier than what I’m used to encountering on 60s spec Fenders.

IIRC it goes from .87-1.00 with a bit of shoulder.

Yeah I have a couple partscasters with the Allparts TRO-FAT, which is an absolute baseball bat.

From my experience, it's the women who like the wrap their hands around a thick shaft!

Ever play or own an American Original 50s Telecaster, @EOengineer ?

Anyone else.

I am circling the drain on checking one out, and a '52 AVRI. No experience with either. :idk

I used to own a 52 avri and it was lovely. The neck was super comfortable, it was light and the pickups were great. I sold it to fund a 335 which annoyingly went in the great gear purge.

all i got is that a big v neck on a tele is regal. i got two boatnecks and one c, and if it were easier to find honkin baseball bat vs, id have that!

Oh man! :( I ditched my 335 to finance the youngest boy's car. Totally do it again.

We can always get guitars back, but can't get back moments/rites of passage with the kiddos.

I played an American Vintage II '51 Blonde Tele this past week and it didn't sing to me.

Hence, going back in time a bit and contemplating some used Fenders that are not in
production anymore.

Yeah I sold a boat load of stuff a few years ago to move the family back to Northern Ireland. I miss some of it but don't regret it for a second. We're all much happier and in a much better place than we were before we moved.

What year is the 52 reissue?

The AO 50s are monster guitars. Some of fenders best IMO. It will be similar to the 2013-2018 AV52 but with a 9.5 radius.

Thanks, E! You gave me my answer. I feel like I need that 7.25 Radius when it comes to snagging an early 50s Tele.

Now I see all the AOs are 9.5. :idk

If you’re looking 52 - I’d probably just grab the current 51 reissue. I’ve played a couple and they are awesome. My fav is the AV52 but the AVRI II stuff can be nice. You might also want to keep an eye out for the Fender Japan Heritage 52 reissue - full nitro and everything.
