I'm trying to set up my gate in a loop of my Amp . Do I use FX loop or Power amp serial loop?

I would try both and see which performs better for you. The serial/parallel is what is suggested as the "regular" loop to use, but when I had my JVM I preferred the power amp insert/serial loop for my needs

I tried serial loop but it's not working right. I get weird hiss and no guitar sound. I checked conections over and over. It should be active correct? not bypass?

Sorry i'm late getting back. in short I was following the diagram in manual, which is not correct for running though a loop when you consider the preamp as effect unit.
see the pics... white is manual instructions, black is the proper way to run through a serial or FX loop. I chose serial in the end, but you can see I had it set up wrong . Anyone that buys a Boss ns-1x and wants to run it through a loop should ignore the manual, and follow the instructions in black
