makes a lot of sense to me, I think there is a market there that is nostalgic for that era of Soldano rack gear. Lumping the IR tech on there must be pretty easy for them. If they price that right it'll be a winner.

I have little to no interest in the SLO but this could make my trigger finger itchy!
Yeah, an SLO 100 is £4000 over here. Cool amps, but WAY too meat and potatoes for that kind of money. I think if they can get it to somewhere between what the IRX goes for and £1500 (this will surely cost a good bit more than the IRX) I think itll do OK.

I guess this would kind of compete with a Synergy SLO / SYN1 combo? I went to Reverb and used you could buy both for $650 USD

Agreed. I think the Astro 20 is priced a helluva lot better, about 900 euros less than the SLO 30.

I guess the appeal here is 3 individual channels, but you'd still want a poweramp unless you want to just run poweramp sim + IRs.

Neat! Since it's 'Soldano' branded, I'd expect it to have the Synergy power amp modeling there too. I'd expect everything from BAD to have this start showing up going forward. I'm expecting they will update the Synergy branded stuff with this, too, since the tech is branded as 'Synergy' already.

I would have been interested in the X88 clone if I didn't already have an SLO 30 and a Synergy rig w/ the SLO module. It looks sweet.

There have been some rumors that there was going to be a new Soldano syn module but that really may have been this thing. The rumor was based on something Friedman had alluded to on a Tone Talk episode when someone had asked about an updated SLO module.

Having bought into that ecosystem, I'd jump on a new module but not another full blown rack unit. that said, I totally get the appeal. It looks like they were smart enough to put an FX loop on it which means it might be able to 4CM with a Head or something like the Syn dock which would greatly widen the market for 'just a preamp'

Kind of a bummer if no Syn module, as I likely won't be able to afford one of these, nor do I want a bigger rack to tote around. That's my story and I'm sticking to it...

For now anyway....

Wouldn't these need the SIC baked into the IR? :)
I know it’s in jest, but I think that’s what they did on the IRX so it’s likely what they’ll do here. Pretty sure on the IRX you can bypass it, and I also think the presence and depth run within that part of the model. I think it’s fine for something that’s primary function isn’t about modelling a power amp. IMO it’s better than just slapping a plain IR on the output, and it’s designed to be used with a poweramp so easy enough to get what you need from it too. Maybe eventually these things will be running digital poweramp models….
