$2900 for the SAS and $3500 for the Special

There was a bit too much overlap with my Ce22 so I moved my SAS on after a few years.
I got my hands on a set of 57/08 pickups from one of the early special run guitars and put them in mine. They have been in there for years now. I put a Fralin Blues Special in the middle. It has had that setup for most of it's life now. I have been told by a few of my friends that if I ever decide to sell it that they would appreciate a phone call so they can have a chance at it.

I got an early set of 57/08s too. Mine came out of a Modern Eagle. Had them in my CE for a while but was never totally happy with the neck and someone offered me silly money for them.

The 57/08s have been my favorite pickups. I am not a high gain player and that may be why I really like them. I have them in quite a few of my PRS guitars. Most came stock with them. I have a couple of sets that are a bit hotter than the others and those have been my favorites of the lot. I wasn't a big fan of the 58/15 LT pickups in my 594. It had way too much of a volume drop for my liking when changing guitars at gigs. I put a set of 57/08s in it and they are the hotter variety. Man, that is a perfect fit for that guitar and my rig. They have been in there since shortly after I got the guitar new back in the beginning of 2017.

Cool. How bright was it?

I have had a few explicit Ash bodied guitars over the years and they definitely
could bring the bite.

Always been intrigued by the PRS Swamp Ass Guitars.

Honestly it sounded surprisingly similar to my Ce22. Especially when they both had the same pickups fitted. The middle pickup on the SAS was cool though and if I didn't have my CE I'd have kept it.

They are gorgeous but Swamp Ass with a Maple board feels like I'd be rolling that Tone
knob way back. :idk

I have a Swamp Ass LP and that sucker shoots out laser-focused Death Rays---and wears like
a piece of Amish log furniture. :brick

:rofl

I had McCarty humbuckers in mine and they were pretty dark so I never had that problem tbh. I also had McCartys in my CE for a while and in HB mode they were pretty similar. Obviously different when the push/pull was up and the middle single coil was activated.

I kind of wished I'd fitted some brighter paf style pickups now to see how difference there was with some bare knuckle mules.

I also never want a swamp ass guitar.

My SE SAS has the SE version of the 85/15 pickups in it, and it’s actually not any brighter than my Core 24-08 with the American 85/15s. However, there is always the possibility that the electronics in the SE are impacting things more than those in the Core guitar.

The USA 85/15s seem pretty bright to me, I think my semihollow CE24 is easily my brightest sounding guitar. I do feel like the SE versions of the pickups tend to be a little darker than the USA counterparts, so maybe that balances it out a little bit

I also REALLY like bright guitars myself lol, used to have an avri thinskin tele, swamp ash and maple board. I had my issues with that guitar but I loved that full bore tone :love

I also have a semi hollow CE24, and that one is definitely brighter than the other two.

With the way you crater them Mids on a Mark no wonder you say you "REALLY like bright guitars."
