New pedalboard build: It’s finished!

I bought a box of these a couple of years ago just to try.
I have bought over 100 since and not one failure 👍
Myself and friends can’t hear any difference between these and expensive short patch cables or the DIY jobs .

New pieces arrived yesterday!

I need a way to toggle outputs so acoustics go to one output while electric goes to another. I had the idea that I could use a JHS Switchback to accomplish this by just using the sends.

I’m really excited about the PA-10G!

I really didn’t want another HX Stomp and I started thinking about what I really need for acoustic processing and 95% of it is just EQ, Compression, and level balancing. I saw the PA-10G and realized I could use it both for all the acoustic EQ and level balancing and it could also replace the GE-7 for electric needs.

I love that it’s digital control of an all analog signal path.

I ordered this last Sunday direct from Sonic Research in America .

They shipped on the Monday and it arrived here in the UK on the Wednesday morning.
I think that’s a nice fast delivery with great tracking 👌
That’s much faster Than Thomann in Germany deliver to the UK 😳
You order from them at the weekend they don’t dispatch until the Tuesday and you don’t normally get it until the following Monday or Tuesday with DHL .It sits in there depot all weekend.😡

I hate waiting for a shipment, even if it's only 2-3 days. Driving to a store was so much nicer, 1-2 hrs and you can enjoy the goods.

How is 3 days instead "better"? 🤷‍♂️

I get as much as I can from local shops. I would much rather do that than buy online anytime I can. Totally agree, if I can both check it out before I buy and get it now instead of waiting 3-5 days that’s a much better proposition.

Unfortunately a lot of pieces of this board are on the more esoteric side so I’ve had to order most of it, but I’m still getting what I can local. That Switchback came from a local shop

Me too! Why does shipping have to take so long

Not super exciting, but I mounted the power supply today!

Well… ime imo, this is where all the fun is at. Making plans, ordering things, waiting, picking up a box and taking it home, unboxing, testing a thing, patching up pedals in orders…

It’s like… when a board is done… it’s like… over. The excitement and rush is over. That’s why I took a whole year doing mine haha, deliberately drawn out process.

But joking aside, the reward of taking the time and doing it slow is great. The appreciation I feel for my board now is greater than I expected. There’s damn soul put into it. And somehow it also sounds like it. My board reflects my sentiment, thoughts and feelings I had while putting it together.

You’re absolutely right, the process is a big part of the fun

Another piece arrived today!

I’ve always loved 1176 based compressors and this is a really good one!

So now the heart of my new acoustic rig is in place:

They sound amazing together. I’ve never loved the direct tone of my acoustics more!

Only problem is I miscalculated the height of this thing! I was hoping to fit it underneath the shelf but that’s not happening. So I’m going to do some rearranging in PedalPlayground and see what I can come up with.

More pieces should be arriving tomorrow

This board is going crazy 😀

I was just thinking about how this post has not aged well, haha:

This is my big first-world-problem struggle ATM:

Which of these choruses goes on the board?

IMG_5260.jpeg

I wanted to use both, but since the Pedal76 won’t fit under the shelf, one has to go.

They both do an amazing deep, lush chorus sound with the slight nod going to the CE. The CE also has an amazing vibrato that is very usable thanks to the separate rate/depth controls. The only Con in the CE column is the level control is touchy and it sort of colors everything.

The JAM is more versatile with the depth switch giving a really nice shallow chorus in the “-“ setting that gives me the type of chorus I love from the SCF. It’s also got the phaser, and it’s more transparent overall.

Difficult decision, I'd probably pick the JAM due to its versatility and transparency as you pointed out.

I love JAM pedals, how they sound and how they look. Add some visual color to your board and shun the audio coloring level control. JAM it!
