New pedalboard build: It’s broken

It’s interesting how much I’m learning from this experience. Board size is so hard to know ahead of time! I did tons of planning, but there are always some things that don’t work exactly how you thought they would.

I do wish I would’ve gone for a board with a top that opens and has space inside. I think the 24x16 like that would have given me just enough extra space for a couple things that would be nice to have. I might eventually migrate to one of those.

At some point I’m also going to move from the Switchboard to Morningstar MC6 and another ML5. I regret that choice, but it’s sufficient for now.

Not sure if either of those changes will happen next year or not, we’ll see!

Boards are an eternal compromise. :brick

Never the perfect size. Never the perfect layout. Never the intended, hoped for ideal.

That's why we need endless revisions. Final is never final.

I find it easier to fill a rack full of sliding draws with pedals than building boards.
I’ve recently emptied this to redo .

Well, I didn’t plan this change, but the combo of the Lightspeed + Full-Drive 3 is undeniable.

- Lightspeed always on as first gain level
- Stack the Boost side of FD3 with it for second gain level
- Stack the Drive side of FD3 for lead with either

The Eighty7 is redundant at this point. I’m not even using it for the current show. I’m keeping it because it’s perfect when I need that Marshall thing, but I think I’m gonna shop for a fuzz to put in its place.

The only problem is what fuzz will work in that spot?

It’s got to be one that can handle buffers in front of it (I think) and be in the middle of a chain of pedals. That eliminates all my usual go-to fuzz pedals…

The Silktone and Benson stuff is too big to fit there…

Hmm

Maybe a Carcosa or Fuzz Face variant with a buffer switch, like the MXR 108.

What kinda fuzz dude are you, rather raunchy/gnarly/spitty/boomy/honky/zippy/scooped/mellow/bright/dark/dull (etc)?

That's the key question prior to checking out options, imho

How about a Skreddy Lunar Module?
