okay- so two weeks ago, i got this cabinet from a guy in craigslist. we got to shooting the shit like any guitar nerds, and as it turned out, we're both tele/lester guys
so he starts asking me about what i dig, and says HEY... have you ever tried those p90 wound tele bridge pickups? and im like.. no but i love specials and im always saying i want a special with a tele control plate blah blah so he sez- ILL BE RIGHT BACK .he runs in the house and hands me the pictured bridge pickup. its a harmonic designs super 90- basically a tele pickup p90 style wound with adjustable poles! how much? say i. oh i dunno... how bout $20? well... ok, twist my arm.
yeah.. just set it up yesterday, and man... this is the setup i was looking for.
this thing matches a p90 neck really well (duh)- but the volume knob cleanup is just perfect. its hot, but not so much that you lose top end- which was my issue with the don mare i had. i love it- but it might like a brighter instrument. this has plenty of air on top, and dirts up in the snotty mean way that p90s are so good at. middle position? sheeeeeit... beefy, barky, and that tcharpy goodness that perfect for rhythm chonk.
best $20 pickup!
the telester special is complete and as good as i thunk itd be! this is the pete townshend multirig mashup and seriously does it all well!
