Speaking of Filtertrons I had a Japanese Telecaster that had a pair in them
(albeit Fender made Fidel-itrons), and while the guitar was cool and unique
it suffered from a massive identity crisis. It just didn't know who it wanted to be.

It's not wildly off the beaten path but a Duncan Jazz-JB combo is pretty fun in a Les Paul if you already have the PAF thing covered.

I love the Duncan Jazz in the neck of an LP, it’s one of my favorites! I used that Jazz + 59/Custom combo in my LP before and liked it a lot.

I’ve always heard mixed reviews about the JB in an LP that kept me from trying it. I’ve loved it in Fenders before though

I just wrote like 5 different posts about how I can’t make up my mind on what to do with my LP’s and the pickups and decided by the end of the 5th post that I’m just going to buy another MIJ LP to keep as a “classic sounding” LP. I’m too scared to change anything about my Orville out of fear of it sounding different after and the Edwards will get med output pickup that probably won’t be far off from the Aldrich in the Orville…..so a 3rd guitar is the answer!

I have three LPs I’d love to try out right now:

• One with those Lollar Rickenbacker pickups
• One with a Lollar Tele in the bridge and Charlie Christian in the neck
• One with DiMarzio Super Distortions in both positions and series/parallel switches

I think those first two could be fun “special effect” type sounds to have around

I wanted one of those BAD when they came out, but was not within reach at the time. There is the new American Classic CAR solid body version, but I kind of have the tones covered in my MIC Synchromatic Falcon.
