New Nevermore lineup

Actually, the second track is better for me... it's heavier and more melodically interesting =)

I'll let the rest of the album play out I guess.

Not sure what age you are or if this is way too obscure of a reference but he kind of sounds like the singer for the Chicago band Cyclone Temple.

11th hour addition to the speed metal scene before death metal trampled everything in its way. I'll have to listen to the rest of this album. The first song was okay. Obviously moving up into Nevermore musicianship levels is going to raise the bar considerably.

Yeah, I've not heard of them, but will check them out anyway.

I have to say they’re looking and sounding great.
I’ll definitely be at a gig if they come to the UK.

Interesting to see Jeff with a Kemper and the new other guitarist with a Quad Cortex. Maybe the I’m boycotting bands who use modellers live guy should watch this 🤪

Singer straight up looks like a viking.

Great timing as I just had it click with Nevermore last month. My buddy was playing a few songs for me he knew I’d be into and I’ve been listening to Dreaming Neon Black (obvious Ryche hat tip there) and Dead Heart In a Dead World since. Surprised it’s taken me this long to appreciate them, I’ve definitely tried before and you’d think with my love of Geoff Tate it’d be an easy one, but I think the lack of ear worms has been the culprit. There’s some, but I’m definitely more into the vibe of the vocals than the content while musically they just rip.

I’d definitely go see this live if they came through!!!

Warrel was definitely not inclined to the melodicism of Tate. Or maybe the music is just not as melodic,
by nature. I recall reading Jeff Loomis saying sometimes he was too dense with his composition and
that things got too technical. I think they may have even worked with a producer a time or two, that
tried to get them to be more Ryche-ian, if that makes any sense. Shorter songs. Tighter arrangements.
Standard shit to get the Proggy less Progggy. WTF?
:facepalm

Kind of neat how Seattle just chucked out the stellar greatness in so many damn different musical forms.

I actually think they have the right amount of technical/regular metal, their appeal to me was exactly that; not being too far into the tech stuff and being able to pull it back for some :headbang, but could also see where Jeff would draw that conclusion after putting out a few albums and not really having a ton of those earworms, I just think that’s more of a Dane thing than Loomis. Maybe get the new dude listening to some Joni Mitchell so he can get a hang for the catchy hooks over fucked up time sigs like Maynard adapted from her!
