I have never seen that. Got any pics? Some USA standards had veneered backs in the 90s to hide 4/5 piece bodies.
Same I’ve never seen that either.I have never seen that. Got any pics?

Seems plausible. This was the same era as the "foto flame" finish. No I don't have pics and don't have the guitar anymore. I had a 94 usa standard which I decided to sand the finish off because I was stoned and thought it would look cool. This was about 2001ish. It had the completely black belly cut like this one
The veneer stopped at the belly cut and underneath was a 4 piece body. I've read about others out there so mine definitely wasn't the only one. The finish was stupidly thick too. I ended up selling it in bits, it's also not the only time I ruined a guitar by sanding the finish off.
Yes you’re right. I’ve seen those, the sunburst having the black in the tummy cut is a dead giveaway. I thought you meant Gibson LP standards. No I don't have pics and don't have the guitar anymore. They use CTS on the standard Epiphones too.
The funny thing about the PRS SE line is that PRS actually ships real mahogany/korina to Korea to make those guitars (last I checked, although it's not top grade), but MIC guitars are almost *always* faux mahogany (luaun, nato, agathis etc.)I can understand a $500-$600 Epiphone (though I’d rather have a PRS SE). But $1300 is insane. You can get Studios and Tributes all day long for less, used.
Compare it with a new made in Japan Tokai or an Edwards .
Me too, I have always had a soft spot for them too. I picked up this one pre-owned a few months ago, and it didnt have a scratch on it. I replaced all the wiring with 50's Toneman parts and I was going to swap out the P90's to Gibson, but after the wiring change, it sounds awesome. May still do that one day. I paid $300 for this one and it is THE most comfortable couch guitar I have ever owned and first P90 guitar. My first electric was an ET-290N so I’ll always have a soft spot for Epiphone. I’m much more interested in their original models though. I’m hoping to see them continue to expand those lines of instruments.
If they brought back something like a US made Wilshire in Silver Fox there’s no way I could resist
