NDSP Quad Cortex

And the drama continues.

I really don't know why NDSP consistently chooses to behave like this 😥

been messing with the QC for a few days now. its pretty awesome.

i am having a problem with scenes. ill take a video tonight but im not able to get certain blocks to go on for one scene and then off for another. i watched a few vids about it and mine just doesnt seem to work like it does for the ppl in the vids. i have it in scene mode. i engage the blocks i want for one scene. go to another scene and turn on or off the ones i want for that one. then when i go back to the first scene it like completely forgets some of the blocks, not all of them which is odd. it works partially lol.

any ideas what im forgetting to do?

So from my understanding, the scenes option on the block changed in an update (rather early in it's life cycle). I'd make sure you are watching a recent video or check the owners manual

And are you hitting save preset after you make changes?

@mbenigni perhaps?

I think @Jarick has it right. I'm not sure what you mean when you say you "engage the blocks you want". You need to start by pressing and holding any given block's bypass button so that its Scene icon appears in the corner. (The icon looks like a little 2x2 grid.) That means that the block's bypass state has a corresponding Scene setting. You should find that the state "sticks" to the Scene as expected after that.

I'll see if I can find a reference in the Owner's manual, since my wording might not be clear enough.

Yeah that's a little funky to do that but not bad when you get the hang of it.
There are pros and cons. The QC doesn't assume that you want every single parameter to be "sticky" - just the ones you specify. So you can, for instance, build a preset around an amp tone, change effects settings, etc. from scene to scene, and tweak the amplifier's settings across the entire preset as you go (a la Kemper's old "lock" control.) Or any combination of the above.

I suspect that not assuming every parameter is relevant to every scene change also helps with performance, but who knows?

honestly tho the QC is pretty dope and obviously i am just scratching the surface. i like that the amp blocks dont have 65+ different parameters and endless sub menus. its just the knobs that the amp would have and really thats all i need. the rectos, 5150s, and slo all sound killer which is more or less all i need so thats been pretty sweet. the way you move the mics around on in the cab blocks is really cool too.

i think its a pretty good sign that im learning it slowly and not just spending a ton of time messing with it bc its really easy to get the tone I want out of the box so I just spend the time playing guitar lol.

i use a lot of pitch blocks and was running out of dsp on the helix. so far ive been able to add all the ones i wanted with no issues. tracking seems really good too.

i created an emergency preset that my bassist and i can both use which is pretty cool, cant do that with my LT.

Glad you are liking it!

However the Recto sounds terrible 😏

Super glad you're enjoying the QC, but one small point of correction:

I'm pretty sure Helix LT can allow you and your bassist to play at the same time in an "emergency preset". He'd just plug into "Return 1" and you'd put his signal chain on a discrete lane below yours.
