How heavily do we think ndsp are telling their mods to shut things down? It’s honestly hard to comprehend how an unpaid moderator in their spare time is so bang up for defending and protecting the company. I’d be annoyed if it was their employees breathing down peoples necks this hard, it’s even weirder when people are unpaid and doing this stuff for free, wild.

I didn’t think anything in that thread was remotely bad and the threat of shutting it down kept coming up again and again. That’s a whole red flag I’d never even seen out of ndsp, so weird and dictator like.

Actually, my guess is that very few people at the company have anything to do with it. Maybe they did originally, but eventually you get so burnt out doing a 10-12 hour work day, and then tacking on 3 hours of forum support on the end of it as you sit in bed crying into a beer bottle.

(I'm frankly fucking amazed that @Digital Igloo finds the time, or enjoys it enough to want to do it!)

But yeah, eventually something has to give. I wouldn't be surprised at all if these wannabe Reddit admins have complete free reign through sheer lack of interest from the company directly.

The Stadium is an existential threat to their hardware product line. When NDSP drops out of the business, the people still holding on to their QC's will be left without updates and reliant on a cloud that may vanish. I can see why they would be concerned and start behaving irrationally.

I think that's a bit much.

Neural DSP has competition from both sides. The budget Hotone Ampero 2s are basically "We got Quad Cortex at home" and the Stadium will take some territory from the higher end. But the Stadium won't launch with capture support, and will likely take well into 2026 to grow into a fully operational Death Star.

Meanwhile NDSP seems to have a popular product in the Nano Cortex surprisingly. The guy I bought my Mesa Mark V from said he'd gotten the NC and had a good time taking it to a gig when it was so practical and small. The guy who sold me the BluGuitar Amp 1 Iridium said he was looking to put the money towards a Nano Cortex.

I think they will be fine, and us rather fickle enthusiasts aside, will keep selling QCs.

I think that’s accurate. I know I can hardly wait to get a Nano. I’m working on a quote now. Lot of functionality in such a great form factor.

I agree with most of this, but I think they're going to have a very hard time selling QCs at anywhere near the current price, with Helix Stadiums a mouse click away. And this is coming from a guy who's rooting pretty hard - maybe more than anyone - for the QC's continued success.

NDSP as a whole isn't going anywhere - so hopefully we can assume the QC's cloud infrastructure will be maintained as well. But ongoing sales and firmware support for QC?...

@LCW I'm all for buying new but it sounds like gen IV of fractal is around the corner (I still wouldn't expect until next year). But with that said, you can save a chunk of change used and FAS stuff has a good record of functionality.

It would kinda suck to buy a new III and have a IV come out in a year. The III would still be awesome but it would still be a bummer imo

I know I won’t be able to afford a new IV out the door at release today, but in a couple years, maybe? Hopefully? Also hopefully the III lasts a couple more years as the flagship. I wouldn’t mind buying a used III today and losing a few hundred dollars selling it used in the future.

I dunno. Trying to think positive. If they can pull off a 3.0 for the Nano that’s in the vein of what they delivered in 2.0, I think I’d likely be a happy camper with a $500 investment.

Maybe I’m getting it wrong but I think it’s a hotshot that got let go at TC Electronics after the Behringturd acquisition.

At least that’s what I recall. Might be somewhere in this thread or the nano thread.
