I use an expression pedal to scoop. Toe is scooped highs, half-way is mids, up is lows.

IDGAF about the QC at this point, but I do get irked by those who criticize other’s playing while never posting any evidence they even play of their own. 99% of people who talk shit about other guitar players do not have their own playing posted anywhere and I 100% believe it’s a result of fear of receiving the same criticism they dish out.

Check out any article on Kirk Hammett, you’ll see a ton of people shitting all over the dude and not one single clip showing that the people shitting on him can do anything any better, or even play Kirk’s parts at all. Then the 1% that does post clips, 50% of them display Dunning Kruger and the other 50% is generally someone schooled to fuck and back but is a major asshole about it.

For real. I’m not gonna go chasing down everyone who says “that sucks” on social media, but this a forum for guitar gear about guitar gear with sub forums about playing and all of the associated stuff. Seems reasonable to expect someone who is highly critical of others abilities to have literally anything to showcase that they having some footing to make their stance.

I can’t compare my QC with another unit because I don’t own them - but I need two noise gates (or maybe I only need one but I haven’t found one to do the job) in my QC to quiet down my Mark V:35 on channel 2 - I admittedly haven’t done a whole lot of experimenting with that because I don’t feel any negative effect on my tone the way I have it set up, so that’s a deep dive for a lazy day. I’ve got my signal chain set up for guitar > QC > Zuul noise gate > sometimes an OD and/or compressor block > fx loop out to > sometimes an OD > amp > loadbox > QC > cab block (Nameless) > post effects. This is the same for all my guitars whether it’s my 7 string, my Majesty or my Hollowbody.

This is clearly pointed at me so to be clear the shit talking didn’t by any means start with me. The ad hominem started with Ovaries and another decided to pile on…. I just gave back what was thrown at me. Of course I don’t know if he can play or not and I can have my opinion about him or that too much gain is by some used as a means to try and cover up slop…. but someone starts ad hominems based on no proof, it’s a good chance they’ll just get the very same right back.

This stuff is taken way too seriously.

Except @Orvillain has posted his music multiple times and you didn’t even have a frame of reference for “too much gain” so of course your argument is silly. Best way to shut everyone up is just post a clip. I mean, unless your embarrassed, but if that’s true than really you’ve got no business commenting on anyone’s ability or gain preference.

I'm no steel man, it can sometimes obviously get to me when people take the opportunity to criticise. I'm trying my hardest though. I've managed to finally play a bar of E-major, then a bar of Gmajor, then a bar of Fminor, for a couple of loops. But it does hurt my fingers. I'll get better, just another 20 years of practice and I'm sure I'll be shred Lynchin' with the best of them.
