Completely accidentally while scrolling through local classified adds, I stumbled across this 1960BV cab for a pretty good price compared to new.

Cab's in good working condition & has the four Marshall G12 Vintage speakers from 2008.

I took the back off to double-check the speakers & also gave them a good tightening since some of the screws seemed a little loose.

Really hyped & surprised how sometimes the right gear just finds its way to you instead of having to chase it around.

Score indeed - pretty wild that this thing's the same year as my Mesa 4x12 OS Straight cab (2008). What were the chances.. need to go back & think what happened back then lol.

Would love to get your thoughts on comparison between the two.

Haven't spent too much time yet with the Marshall but I have plans for it over the next week. From my testing it yesterday, it comes across as tighter - the G12 Vintage speakers have their own thing going on compared to the Mesa-spec V30; not better or worse, just different.

I'll be back with more.

Definitely report back. I have always read about the G12 Vintage speakers here and there but never actually played through any nor heard of any sort of opinion on them?
They're very well regarded speakers - word has it the 1960BV cab with the Marshall G12 speakers was proeminently used on Metallica's Black Album.

I know the Mesas have that tremendous low-end. Do the Marshalls have that as well?

They have mojo that's for sure. Never too late go backtrack on that decision though :whistle
It wasn’t a totally voluntary decision at the time, but I agree. I’ve kept an eye out, but I don’t see those pop up nearly as much as the vanilla 1960A. The greenback loaded cab would be cool too.
