New Bird Day.

Our oldest daughter has been researching and researching about Parakeets and today she brought home a Fancy Budgy.

Meet Jello

I've had dogs, cats and a rat but never a bird before although I've known a few folks with birds. It's a little one, looks young and is pretty docile both in the big cage with the other birds at the store and here at home. Hopefully it isn't sick and will live a while.

We have had a few birds over the years. Here in FL people will take them outside with out their wings clipped and they fly off, so watch out for that. My wife has had a couple of cockatiels over the years and I raised a Quaker Parrot from a baby that fell out of it's nest. Birds live a long time and will bond to their owner, so make sure she puts in the work with it in the beginning.

For sure!

She seems dedicated to her new love. Jello did some jumping around and eating before going to sleep near my daughter, with its cage on her desk next to her bed. There's about a week left of summer break so I hope they can get some good bonding time before she goes back to school.

I played some light acoustic guitar for Jello and it seemed interested. We want to hopefully get it to sing and speak.

That happened to my parakeet Tweetie.
He looked just like Alex's. He used to fly around in the house, land on your shoulder and nibble in your ear. I missed that little bugger for a long while. I was about 12.
