I had this amp for a while in 2022 but sold it because... well that's what I do :ROFLMAO:

But I really missed it and decided to get another. I think this is my favorite Friedman amp. It's less polished and more percussive than the BE etc. And it has a great clean channel, awesome loop, DI out and it's pretty small and easy to carry for a 50w head.

So I got it yesterday and it went straight from its box to the stage:

It sounded amazing, I was really happy with my tone last night :)

Hard to go wrong with a Friedman! I've had a few of them over the years. Great amps!

Nice! This one has seemed to have risen up repeatedly and grabbed some appreciation and established a history with you like the DSL. Does it need an outboard boost?

Not for me but I'm not a very high gain player, my gain is in the AC/DC to early VH range and I boost for some solos. So I'm good with the gain halfway up for 90% of my playing.

For modern metal, it'd probably benefit from a boost.
I’ve seen a few of these pop up for very affordable prices lately, at least in Friedman bucks. It’s a tempting amp for sure.
Yeah it's a cool amp for sure. What I like the most about Friedmans is how good their master volume is. These amps deliver their whole tone at pretty much any volume.
The tradeoff is they don't sound as crushing as an old Marshall when cranked up. But they perform much better than Marshalls at realistic volume levels. Last night I had the master volume barely open and it sounded nice and full without being too loud.

Is it just less kerrang in the upper mids and highs or is there something else happening? I’d imagine there might be more compression than a cranked 4 holer too, based on limited interactions I’ve had with Friedman’s amps.

If I’m using an amp live it’s usually my 2204 or 1959 and I’ve definitely taken people’s faces off with both. Some rooms handle it better than others.

Cool! I almost sold my Bruno modded Taco but I plugged it in for one last ride and instantly changed my mind. I had a Runt previously and that was great. Killer amps for what they do.

Yep less kerrang and more compression than a Marshall when played loud. But actually fuller and crunchier at low to mid volumes.

I also have an '86 2204 and a '77 Super Lead here and when volume is not an issues they're my go-to amps without a doubt.

But for 99% of the gigs I play the Friedman is a better fit.
