NAD: Mesa Boogie Badlander 100W

Talk to Thomann and get a TGF Official Amp, a Mark!

Yeah - resale value's f'ed if you want to flip it later.

And yea, I was really surprised to see the Bronco instead of the Taurus. Taurus would have worked great my my Mesa 2x12 and 4x12 cabs; it still looks the part - it is what it is.

Gibson's casting their shadow more & more.

100%. The Mark VII's look so cheap compared to my Mark IV/V's in Taurus.

If anybody here's a glutton for punishment, I ran sweeps into the FX Return of the Badlander at all power ratings (20W, 50W, 100W) in both modes (Bold, Variac) using the following loads:

- React:IR 2 with the Mode button pushed IN
- Mesa 4x12 OS Straight
- Mesa 2x12 Horizontal
- Mesa 4x12 + Mesa 2x12 at the same time

Drag this into Room EQ Wizard (REW) and have at it: https://mega.nz/file/fhQGkCLC#mjQJXtb3OhKgZlBjv21mrO9Hw32Nme333_ReFXPTFq4

Decided the amp's staying - I like it enough & I now have a Mesa amp which isn't a b!tch to dial in.

Dealing with Thomann this time around rubbed me the wrong way but the cost was still the best around in the EU.

It’s a kick ass amp.. as simple as it is to dial in I do keep finding myself tweaking a lot trying new things… currently have 6L6 in my 50 watt but need to roll 34s again. I was going back and forth between whether I like crush or crunch for brootz better but with ny new speaker config I’m mainly using for badlander I definitely think I like crush mode with the gain dimed for heaviest tones

I need to get a quad of 6L6 for it. Do you have the MESA STR ones or a regular "off the shelf" set?

I haven’t used a BL but IMO it’s always easiest to stick with mesa spec ones. There’s no bias trim pots in their amps, so they’re designed to work with ones that fit their specific tolerances and then you don’t have to bias.

Some places offer sets that match Mesa’s spec but it’s usually easier just to get Mesa labelled ones. Mesa offer most brands, just have to check which code correlates to which brand.

I wanna go daredevil dude of the week and mod a Badlander with NFB controls to add dimension to the lows etc..and the feel, the low-mids and the top-end fangoria factor…
It’ll be called The “Madlander”
-a fiber of madness makes for the
best of amplifiers🎯

Switched on the JT Badlander today for the first time in awhile. So hard to get a bad sound out of it. I really don't think it needs the Scary Mod. Throw a SD1 with the gain up a little bit and you're there for that type of tone. It does crunch so well and the clean is a pleasant surprise.

This isn't stopping me from scoping some Dual Rec MWs tho 🤣

You've probably mentioned, but what Ceriatone is that? And how'd you get the small box? Just ask?

They might be, but they're specifically in the bias range that Mesa specs. So unless you buy tubes that are in that bias range specifically, it's best to stick to Mesa power tubes.
But that's the same as anything else....and it can be rebiased...but ok.

I understand.
Edit...not a snarky response.
:beer

Most mesas are fixed bias, but any reputable tube vendor will make sure tubes are in the appropriate range if you tell them it’s for a Mesa
