NAD: Friedman JJ Junior Head

As far as being loud is concerned, my AC10C could blow my windows out and have the neighbours calling the cops if I crank it, let alone the Terrors. The Fireball 25?!? Master never goes above 8 o’clock. Tube amps are loud.

50w is about the same. I have to be careful with the Master Volume on the Crunch channel.

Someone on TOP a long time ago told me (or someone in the thread I read) that I would never be satisfied with tone until I had big iron, lots of glass and a 4x12, even if the Master Volume is at whisper levels.

A 3 channel 100w head and a 4x12 with greenbacks is now my next gear goal, depending on availability in Oz and my savings.

I liked the amp the most but in the mix it was hard to tell.

I absolutely did not like the IRX and the NDSP was just okay. I thought fractal did a good job although a little darker/looser

One thing I noticed was the wave forms were really clipped with the load box. I think that's something that maybe the Suhr Reactive Load could be a big improvement on, which would help the dynamics. But the amp has a nice presence to it.

God help me, the matching cab is for sale five minutes from my house.

I will stay strong...

Go get her, it's only money.

Great amp! I've had a couple of them over the years since they were out.

You know what would make that even better.....

The matching cab!

Alright thanks to @Mongillo19 I have a Suhr Reactive Load incoming! Hopefully a good upgrade from the Captor sonically and for quality. The Captor DI level knob is bad and won't give me a stable level anymore, so good timing.

The sizzle on the Amp and Fractal really sound so much better in the mix.

Maybe a slight bump on mids and treble on the IR-X could get it closer? It's a little too polite/smoothed out in comparison.

To me I heard the Amp as having the most attack, IR-X having a little less gain but still good attack, Fractal had a boomier low end and muted attack with some extra high end on top, and the NDSP sitting kind of middle of the road. I think IR-X with the gain and mids up sounds better. Fractal not sure what that would need to compare as it's hard to boost the attack without boosting the fizz, and tightening up the low end without cutting it all out.
