My recto is dead

The old 3 channel rectos pop when changing channels. If you cycle it through the channels a few times when you first turn it on it should dissipate. Never was a problem for me with a 3 channel 2005ish triple rec, just get it to pop a couple times and you should be good after that.

Can anyone tell me how to set back controls so when I hit fx button loop on foot switch loops comes on for whichever channel im on?

I like ch 3 its tough and aggressive like Chuck Norris.

Some of these question maybe obvious most of you but to me is not… i have very little attention span / patience and I give up trying as I lose desire to play….

:sofa

Also, i made discovery!!!!! I opened amp ( im still alive yey) and I saw 2 tubes are different from the rest…. Its some Russian tubes i dont know if it make difference having different tubes in it….
I looked up to replace whole shabang but damn they are expensive…. I guess donkey has to do some more overtimes :bonk:bag

As it’s set in the picture on the last page, it should come on with Channel 3. Whatever you set the Loop Active knob to should be the channel where the loop is activated.

How did you do that? I'd love to know, ya know, just in case... knock on wood.

Plug a Speaker Cable into your Cabinet and then check the Ohms on the other end
with the Tip and Sleeve of the Speaker Cable touched by the 2 leads of the Multimeter.

I will make a video tomorrow and maybe that way is easier to understand what im on about.

I had a Roadster from that era that did the same thing, IIRC it was due to a static buildup that went away after a few button presses.

And..., what is a bad reading? Infinity or nothing? I assume a good reading should be whatever the cab is rated for...?

(I'm like 5, when it comes to the tech part of this stuff.)

Well, i took it to rehearsal today and it died again….

Not sure whats the fucking deal with this amp…. Is it a cabs at rehearsal, or is it stupid skinny speaker cable ( not mine) i was thinking to take mine but got lazy… I set it up everything , ready to go hit the std by off and nothing…. Its so frustrating…

It worked all day at home with my cabs and i was playing just fine…..

It back to tech yet again….

Anyway …

Other issue i have is explained in the video below.

Man, i was in great mood to day and this amp took a dump in my mood…

I'm not the greatest amp tech but it seems like both problems (popping and footswitch issue) could be related to the switching circuit, especially if it's a Mesa made after they stopped using LDRs. IIRC Mesa used JFETs to momentarily mute the signal when changing channels to avoid popping. That's triggered from the same part of the amp that handles all of your FX loop and channel switching. So it could be one issue causing both problems. With that said your tubes are probably fine but it's gonna take a patient tech to fix it. Mesa's switching circuits get kinda complicated. Of course I could be wrong YMMV and all that.

Yup. Infinity is bad. OT goes BOOM!

Should be what the cab is rated for. It's never exact, though.
An 8 OHM Cab can read anywhere from the high 6.0s to the
high 8.0s. And I have measured 16 OHM Cabs as lows as 13 OHMs.

But did you send your multimeter off to NIST for annual calibration?

Just got it back from tech and he said he cant do it what i'm asking...

about blowing fuse he said it was cheap speaker cable fault.... ( one at rehearsal ) I got new one ( ernie ball make) so that should stop blowing fuse...

But my biggest question is...., Why cant i activate FX loop with fx on/off button to have delay on which ever channel i want... setting back knobs on foot switch or assigning to which ever channel I want, it makes foot switch redundant....

he gave me schematics if needed i can post pics....

am i doomed not being able activate fx on/off with fx button without a mod ?

Bingo.
You sound nifty enough to work on my amps!
The reason I’m commenting is the title of this thread.
I thought it was a Viagra company attempting to bridge a sale . My Erections dead, etc.
I hope you get it sorted, that’s not a dead Recto by any means.
