We have a “most complicated amp ever” thread, but, what’s the least complicated? With the caveat of needing a clean channel and an OD/Dirt channel?

Another suggestion: reverse the guitar player roles in the band and have the other guy handle clean guitar duties. If he has the rig and skillset to do it.

IF you don't need a clean-clean channel; this all day long. You could make it cleaner but it would involve things that would probably take it back to overcomplicated land.
Yeah maybe the 6505+ line then? I'm not sure how much more clean that clean channel truly is compared to the others

6505+ 1x12 combo

Tried one (wanted to buy it) and it was a) super easy and b) had a cool clean channel. And c) it also had a cool "rhythm" channel for rock. Kinda like an American Marshall crunch. Would have bought it but sadly it was kinda damaged and I did not want to buy it blind (=without a tech seeing it first).

Look up on marketplace. Maybe you'll find one already converted to a head.

I guess I never realized the combo is different than the head… 🤔

800 boosted by an SD-1. None more metal.

depends on your "metal" but for what 6505/6505+ go for used that's a very, very hard one to beat. used multiwatt DR is more versatile but also pricier and takes a little more effort. if you're going new off the shelf 5153, no question.
