Also I’ll also say that my mark IV sound kind of like shit until the master output is at 3 (and it’s deafeningly loud at that point) he’s much lower there too

Questionable IV settings aside, the III and IIc++ both sound pretty awesome to me in this vid

This is just a badly executed comparison. Knobs in the same position, presence at zero is a bad way to do it. Pick a reference, dial the others by ear to see how close they can get.

I bet that Mark IV would've sounded way better even with a bit more presence.

All kinds of issues that have already been spelled out, but the part I did find interest was listening to the progression from IIC++ -> III.

At least on my phone speakers the IIC++ and III sound pretty close.

I’ve read recently that the IIC++ basically came to be after Randall and Mike B applied some small changes to the IIC+ that they discovered during R&D for the III. It was something on a forum that I dismissed but now I’m starting to wonder.
