Mass IT Outage. Is it affecting you?

Laxu is dead on. It boggles the mind how this wasn’t caught in testing, or more importantly, that they don’t do staggered rollouts so they minimize the exposure should something slip past during testing. This is the hold my beer approach to patching, let’s blast this shit out to everyone on a Friday!

If I were a Crowdstrike employee I'd be spending the day working on my resume. The company is undoubtedly going to take a big financial hit for this total faceplant.
Their stock already took a pretty big dive. So current stockholders are not pleased. Those who don't own any, this may be a good time to buy depending on how much of a gambler you are.

Crowdstrike better have ironclad contracts with their clients when it comes to liability.

Have you find yourself affected?

My company uses it. It was a bit of a hellscape this morning, but we had guys working on it since 2am. Servers are easy, since they're all virtual, boot fast, and are easy to get to.
My Debian box, MacBook Air and Mac Mini had no issues this morning.......
