Marshall Price Increase

Ceriatone is still building better Marshalls for a lot less. Unless you really need the badge on the front to say Marshall, I would look a number of places before spending $3000 on a HongShan amp that happens to have the rights to use the Marshall name.

If ya need the badge, you can do that too. ;)

Yeah, I don’t really see Marshall as expensive but maybe they’re just not getting punished with fees like they around around the rest of the world.

new prices for them in the UK

£699 DSL 100HR
£1200 JVM
£1299 2555x
£1450 2203x
£1600 1959HW

The modified amps are stupid prices but these are less than half the price of boutique stuff in the UK and well in line with what Fender/EVH, Orange, Peavey etc charge. I don’t think Marshall are “expensive”, it’s just everything costs more nowadays and comparing Marshall pricing to smaller operations that are made on a tiny scale in asia, or to one man modders isn’t really the comparison to make.

Mesa Boogie Mark VII or IIC+ costs £3800 here, 2 channel Recto is £3400.

Ceriatone and Crab etc being good value for money doesn’t mean these are a ripoff.

Not to mention something more pedestrian like Fender amps cost as much as EU made boutique versions. So it goes both ways. I wouldn't buy Marshall either if I lived in the US, just like Mesa doesn't make a whole lot of sense over here unless it's used.
