Marshall 4x12 T75

View attachment 53861

I absolutely love my Marshall 30th Anniversary 6960B 4x12 loaded with T-75 speakers. I purchased it back in the early 90's to go with my Mesa Boogie Triaxis + 2:90 rig. :sofa

More than 30 years later, I am still a fan, and finally have it matched with a complimenting Marshall JVM 410H. I believe @santiall previously commented that the JVM410H was designed to pair with T-75's.
yep, it was designed with T75s as that was the 'standard' Marshall cabinet and the one supposed to be sold with the JVM. I think the plaque on the bottom left says JVM nowadays?

I have the 6960A cab, picked it up for cheap a few years ago. It had MoW's in it but they were not my thing so I hunted down a quad of old white label G12T75's because one of the cabs I played at rehearsal sounds amazing with them. I love the cab now but it's meant for loud stages and the old 75's will tear heads off.

Does yours have the older style 75's (all white label) or the more modern ones (black/white)?

The jacks fail regularly in my experience. Which could cause other problems to the gear connected to them, obviously.
Mine was busted too and I've had to replace them in several cabs. The PCBs are junk. I just buy a new plate and wire it to mono.

I don't like them. I struggled with a 2x12 for a long time about 20 years ago.

Then I plugged into a Greenback cab - game over.

I now understand that there are different variants of T75s - maybe I'll like the more worn-in ones better.

It's been over a decade since I've opened up the back of that cab, and right now, I'm feeling a little too lazy to do it now. If my aging memory still serves me, then I believe my speakers (which are the originals in that cab) resemble the speaker pictured below:

What amp(s) did you prefer the GB's to t75's?

I can feel the weight of that head just looking at it!

The T75 sound had to grow on me over the years. For years I thought I didn’t like them. I’ve found that I really like it for heavy stuff. I wish I had tried them when I had my recto, I think they would have sounded killer together. I know they would, I can now pick that recto/t75 sound out on records and it’s one of my favorite food groups.

As ridiculous as it is for my current gigging situation, I’m really tempted to start surfing local ads to pick up a good 412 or two. I miss the feel of pushing air through big speakers and cabs.

I pulled the side handle and stuck my phone in the opening to snap a pic.

:cheers
Those are the more modern versions, which sound quite a bit different than the older ones. Makes sense since I believe those Anniversary amps were from the early 90's. They can sound good too, especially after years of punishment, just different than the older ones which are less scooped and a little darker.
busted my old T75 loaded 1960 out this week. Pretty sure they’re 1st year of production (1984)

Those are the ones I put in my cab, although my date code is 1987 and don't have the vents on the magnet. They rip!

I just got 2 Marshal cabs with T75s in them this week, and I am playing my Triple Recto through them.

I got an UberKab a few months ago with t75’s and v30’s in the X pattern and I am really loving it. I will snag a Marshall when one local pops.

Greenbacks, creambacks (any), or vintage 30’s. Never T75’s for me. Scooped, ratty top end, just gross. Plus, the 1960 with plastic corners, handles, and tolex that rips if you look at it funny? There are far better cabs out there. I’ve hated the T75s with all the amps that were supposed to be designed for them.

What is the general perception of Marshall with T75 in it?

well, all marshall amps are designed for use with T75s. so T75s are the way marshall is supposed to sound. also there is greenbacks which is like a secondary marshall sound, but the meat and potatoes of marshall sound is the scooped mids and ridiculous bass of T75s combined with Marshall's having all mids and completely devoid of bass. so it's even with T75s.

og Korn sound is they put T75s in oversized mesa rectifier cabs and ran dual rectifiers into them. which is an amp with no mids and all bass into a speaker with no mids and all bass. which is why the parents hate it. dual rectifier is designed for V30s, which is speaker with no bass and all mids, for an amp with no mids and all bass.

To conclude my thread start: The guy had the cab in his rehearsal space, which would have been double the distance of where the cab was "by default from the app" located. So a 2,5h trip would have been a 5h trip. Could not make it in the last few weeks with work and family and now the classified is gone. Sad.
