Mark v ss vs tube rectified

Any of you experimented with running tube rectification vs ss? I haven’t played my boogie in a while and dont feel like going down in the dungeon to play it. Is there a big difference in tone/feel?

Tube rectification would be in a dual/triple rectifier. Marks have diode solid state (correct me if I’m wrong)

Essentially though, tube rectification would have more sag. Diode ss rectification would be tighter and more immediate feeling.

Diode SS rectification is more popular (arguably) anyway. I don’t really give a rat’s ass about it lol

Mark V 90 has both tube and SS rectifier options for channels 1 and 2 in 45W (and maybe 10W?) modes.

Tube feels "slower" and "spongier" by a bit.

Is that the pentode and triode? I should’ve opened the manual. I might hall my mark to my next rehearsal

It's next to the pentode/triode switch on Ch3. Under the reverb level knob. I believe it only works in the half power mode if I remember correctly?

I’ve tried both, but the differences are very subtle until the volume is up high enough to sterilize yourself.

Idk if I will ever get it that loud again. My Fender 68 Custom Deluxe Reverb is plenty loud enough for my current band.

Yeah, a Deluxe at full throttle isn’t in the same category as a Mark that is wound up.
