Mark V head for $1500. Good deal?

I had the ElectraDyne combo for a hot minute and when it worked for 15 minutes; it sounded punchy AF. I believe it had a C90 in it as well? I remember preparing to not like it because not a V30 and was pleasantly surprised till the reverb and channel controls started going dumb.

Hmmm.

I will add, I’ve had 3 or 4 Mesa combos with c90 open back? All meh in that format….

Closed back widebody 1x12 c90 = :love :love :love :chef :chef :chef

A different speaker option is a good move to have some options on hand. Besides 3 amps and the deepest modelers known to man.
:bag
I'm going to get a couple more items for the home board sorted then I'll see where I land with more speaker cabs.
:oops::facepalm:LOL:

I have the C90 I pulled from my Thiele with less than 20 hours on it. If you are interested, make me an offer. Better to have someone using it than sitting in a box.

So last year I got the deal of the century on a V90 Combo for $950. It had the C90 but open back and really didn't like it, now I wish I would have closed the back to test it before I gave it to my friend.

Idk about the V combo…

But my IV combo open back with a c90 was just horrible (I converted to head)

Also has a rectoverb 50 combo. Also terrible

Express 5:50+ combo… best sounding of them all but still kinda fell apart with high gain

This closed back widebody c90 cab is just an entirely different planet though. I have a couple 2x12s and the thiele at the moment and honestly this one is my favorite of all of them

What speakers besides V30s for this? EVs? I can see something a little smoother in the top end being really good with this \m/
I use a pairing of the combo's open back 1x12 C90 + closed back 4x10 10" Greenbacks. They go together nicely. The GBs are generally smoother and obviously the larger cab with more drivers has more oomph to it.

So like always it's pretty much "Try and see if you like it".

IMO the C90 is a very nice, fairly balanced speaker that works for just about anything. I'd love to have a closed back 1x12 with it to pair with the open back for a Mark V mini stack.

I initially didn't like the C90 combo but it turns out the issue was the powertubes. It was bright and harsh. After I swapped the TAD 6L6GC-STR tubes for Svetlana/SED =C= 6L6GC and TAD 6L6GCM-STR Redbase tubes it sounds so much better.

I still have no idea why those initial TAD tubes don't work right. I tried building a few bias probe kits but I think I fucked something up as I can't get readings.

I've committed penance by smashing the 750 to it's lowest point with a hammer then ripped off the slider cap. Should be good :rollsafe:satan
You can probably etch out some of the face plate and yank the slider down a few more notches.
