Yeah, I mean jazz isn't really my thing, but he's a fantastic player. Best to shut his fucking yap, and play his guitar. Leave his shitty viewpoints/personality a mystery, for our sake.

The thing is, he puts out a metric shit ton of videos that are straight up playing/ teaching, and they're excellent. I didn't even know these BS op-ed shorts of his were a thing until I started reading this thread.

I don't particularly care about his opinions on boomers or modelers or whatever (and I have a sneaking suspicion he's not all that serious about these things, either.) But if you want to pick up a little jazz theory or whatever, he has a very straightforward approach. The potty mouth schtick gets a little OTT occasionally, but otherwise, as an instructor, he's refreshingly on point.

I guess it's a YMMV thing? Or maybe don't click on a specific video if its title sounds stupid?

The over-generalized bs is old and boring. Click-bait nonsense imo. I like his vids where he's discussing guitar theory or techniques, but this other kind of stuff is lame.

i laughed most of the way through that cause its just silly generalization about a stereotype ive met a jillion times.

theres tons of personal exceptions to that caricature, but its still just silly shit, and even if it IS horrendous caricature. stereotypes are the funniest because so many people willingly BECOME them. i think thats why they push so many buttons.
