Luminite Graviton M1 MIDI Controller

I tried and couldn't get USB host to work with my Fractal AM4 either. It just shows "not connected". Tried the toggling trick and it didn't seem to help, and the USB-C vs USB host port doesn't seem to make a difference either.
The other user told me to do it this way (which I might swear I did back in the day without success, but can't be 100% sure):

Both units powered off.

Connect the usb cable between them. Of course, the A port in the M1.

Power up both devices with power supplies (not relying on the M1 to power the Fractal). Wait until both have booted.

No matter what the USB setting is currently in the M1, go and select "device", and restart everything.

Now, select "host" in the M1 and restart.

Then it should connect (according to this mate testimonial).

I can't try this because I now have the prototype board in my M1, so to try it I'd need to dissemble it and assemble the old one... And It's something I don't want to touch now, honestly. I'm not very confident that this trick works... Because, as I said, I'd swear that I already tried when I had the original board.

I like the UI. Simple, visually responsive, works fine. More than adequate for the task. The guy who did this is clearly a gifted developer. It's certainly not crude. I find it great !

One thing bothers me and doesn't seem logical. When you assign an action to a second tap in a preset and select another preset, when you go back to the first one, it executes the second tap. I would have thought changing preset would reset the process, especially when there's a third tap. What do you think ?
I had the same issue, but figured out it has to be done in a different way. Within a preset you can add an action with the "+" symbol and then where you choose PC or CC, there are many more items. I don't have the unit here right now, so not sure but the one you need I think it's called Preset Chain. Use an empty preset, then you add the chain of presets how you wanna trigger them with 1st, 2nd, 3rd... and select Rotation Reset to A or something. It works and is easy once you got it. Big problem that this stuff isn't explained in the manual.

Yeah this is one of those "you might want it one way or the other" things, even though most would probably find it more intuitive if the default functionality was resetting to the 1st action.

If I remember correctly there's also a cycle function for going through options when tapping again. You can configure it in a preset.

It's a bit annoying because the manual is not often up to date, but you can go through the firmware update notes to find about features and how they work.

Gigged it last night. It worked mostly fine for page turning against Bandhelper. And the chasebliss exp plugged in to it worked as expected for effect parameter control. Didn't get to use the two knobs I configured during the gig. And I ran out of time to mount the XY controller on a guitar to page turn from there so that didn't get any use.

It did disconnect from my iPad towards the end of the second set. I was able to reconnect it in Bandhelper between songs. Weird. Never had that issue with the AirTurn. But the AirTurn connected to the iPad's BT, not as a BT MIDI device directly to Bandhelper.

Mostly starting to think the XY thing will be unused by me. The knobs are low value as well.

Maybe I should have stuck with the Morningstar here for their more polished UI even if it's two fewer switches and less expression control inputs?

My guess it's that it could be iPad power saving shenanigans. Mobile devices love to quit processes and whatnot in an effort to conserve battery and it's really annoying.

I have mine connected to a CME WIDI Jack which is connected to my Strymon Conduit. I don't think I've ever had that setup disconnect.

I'd give the XY a chance at least, it sounds like it could be a very cool tool for your uses.

To me the difference to Morningstar is that Morningstar doesn't really offer onboard editing so the hardware is easier to approach. They also have a simpler and easier system for e.g "what happens when I change banks", but it can get pretty messy too if you have a lot of things configured and then you also run into its particular complexities - preset shifting, toggle modes and whatnot.

The computer editor gets pretty cluttered when you have a lot of things going.

Luminite's list of features has grown so large that it could really benefit from a computer editor too.

Yes the "Preset Chain" that I explained above is that cycling through presets thing. Then "Rotation Reset to A" is the parameter to define the behaviour as intended (switch defaults back to A when recalling the preset coming from a different one). It's all there, just not in the manual. Which is a pity because it would probably be 1 day of work for them to get the documentation up to scratch.
