I found some good OG Rockman NAM captures and had a blast using them last night. It actually increased my GAS for the pedal, not the other way around.
I just found an HX "imitation" preset for the sounds of the X100, I did NOT need to read this.

I was playing “Memories” from Satch on my iPad this morning (X100 DIST NAM file + Eventide Chorus/Reverb). I need this on my pedalboard. :wat

Welp, I downloaded this for my Helix, so, I won’t be needing the pedal:

Regardless of if you have a Helix or not, it’s interesting how he did it.

I use a similar capture as this one, but adjust the input gain, add a compressor block to further dial in the tone, and include Eventide effects (TriceraChorus tweaked to sound like the Rockman; Ultratap for echo/reverb).

(Not me playing, and I find that my tone is much closer to Satch than Def Leppard)

How do you like it? I missed the first batch, so I’m waiting patiently…

Sorry to say I haven’t played it yet. Long story but being a mono in / TRS out, it kind of dictates where it can go on my board. I want to preserve the stereo out so that forces it on my board between the last mono only pedal (MXR EVH phase 90) and the first stereo input pedal (Eventide MicroPitch). But between those two I had the MXR EVH Chorus which is also mono in / TRS stereo out.

I’ve decided to run the EVH chorus as mono/mono into the Rockman & then stereo afterwards. Anyways, I ordered the wrong TRS cable so I had to wait for the right one to show up which was last night. I also had to dig out some DC power splitting cables from my stash so I should be able to play through it tonight.

First world problems. :rofl

Speaking of Rockman (& Rockmodules) gear prices, I checked out what the originals (I have 6 items) that I own are selling for on Reverb...

(these are high "SOLD" examples).

Rockman X-100 $600

Rockman Sustainor 100A $515

Rockman Stereo Echo $995

Rockman Stereo Chorus $550

Rockman Distortion Generator $499

Rockman Midi Octopus $270

Total: $3,429

A very wise investment indeed!

Fun Fact:

The Stereo Echo Rockmodule (delay unit) is generally considered a valuable piece of gear in studios at this point in time. It's probably the most expensive Rockmodule of the set. 100% analog delay. Has a tape-like quality to the sound.

Tom designed it so that there is a particular ratio (3:5) between the Left & Right delays. This ratio stays the same regardless of the milliseconds selected:

The front panel lists certain echo time points (but you can of course go anywhere between them with the slider):

L 75 - 150 - 300 ms
R 125 - 250 - 500 ms

Then there's the Pan Select switch, which gives you 3 settings:

1. <echo>
>main<
(echo wide L/R, main center)

2. <echo>
<main>
(echo wide L/R, main wide L/R)

3. echo>
<main
(echo wide R, main wide L)

Remember, this unit was introduced in 1987!
