Looking for Playlist Suggestions

I have been building a master playlist spanning decades of music I like. Mostly on the heavier side, from classics like Zeppelin and Sabbath, Van Halen and Ozzy, up to Arch Enemy and Children of Bodom, and looking for suggestions to add.

In particular, I want to give Dream Theater another shot. I dig Petrucci and the best amps I own are an OG MkIIC+ and a JP2C, but I have never connected with the band. (Probably the singer that I just don’t dig.) What albums should I start with and what non Dream Theater Petrucci albums would you recommend?

No real reason why. Sounds like a fun thing to do.

Actually, I wanted to see if I could challenge my own assumptions about what I thought I knew about the DT catalog.
They seem to get a lot of love (except for poor James!), and many believe they have maybe become a caricature of
their own greatness and have lost their edge just a bit. Even Ola Englund asked John in a recent "Coffee with Ola"
episode if John ever felt like he or the band was repeating itself.

So I started to listen to an entire Album every day. Sometimes two. I only took days off when I had band practice. It's

This is from their newest, Parasomnia, and it's definitely a fan-favorite, with some of the tastiest playing from JP ever.
I think the entire album is fantastic!


And this song from the most recent LTE is a standout, imo!

Thanks guys. I added that Dream Theater and a couple of the early ones, as well as all of the Liquid Tension Experiment stuff and any other Petrucci solo releases that I found on Apple Music.

I enjoyed that first video as well, but might be just a bit more intense than what I am into. This is my driving music, so I try at avoid speeding tickets.
