Hi folks!

I’m looking for a portable digital recorder — mainly to record my guitar using an external mic, and occasionally to capture some rough jam sessions with my guitar and a friend’s drums.

I don’t care about having a touchscreen; I just need support for 96kHz (or higher) recording, raw format, and SD or microSD cards.

If you use a similar setup, please share the models you recommend!

Very occasionally, I’ll also use it to record concerts (not my own).

There are a bunch of options out there these days. I have a really old Zoom field recorder that I use for this purpose. It records to an SD card. I have used it to record practices with the band as well as put it on a mic stand in the back of a room we were playing in to capture what the gig sounded like. They have made some improvements in their offerings since I bought mine and I like the newer ones a lot more than the one I have. I use it so infrequently that I can't justify buying a new one. I would just do a Google search for handheld recorder or field recorder or portable recorder and see what you find. Zoom was the one that was doing it best when I bought mine.

Thanks !
I’m looking for modern models and recent user experiences. I’m currently checking reviews and feedback on Zoom, Tascam, and also Roland. It seems that the newer Zoom models have some noise issues, so choosing the best option will take some time.
