Latching pedals

I’m looking at the new Boss Cube lx for a practice amp. It has a built in looper but I think you need an external pedal to work it. Obviously Boss want you to buy their own model (not cheap!) but would any latching pedal work just as well?

In the Boss ecoverse, you will very lilkely need a "normally closed" pedal for things to work. Pretty much all standard pedals however operate in "normally opened" fashion. Some have polarity switches, but they're getting more expensive already.
Personally, I used an old pedal case I had around and slapped two switches in allowing for either operation (depending on which solder joints you're using).
