L6 know *exactly* what the other current makers have with their "V2" versions ... and the "quality" they are achieving.

Whatever Proxy is, and however it "works", you can bet your bottom dollar that it will be at least as good as anything already out there.

They know exactly what they have to "leap frog" .... so there is less than zero chance that Proxy will disappoint anyone.

NAM is not optimized to run on a hardware device. Even an AXE III can’t run NAM native. It is far more likely that they will incorporate NAM tech in Proxy, or do a conversion like the Chinese options.

Doubt it. Unlike AxeFX III, which relies solely on (a shiton of) raw DSP power, Stadiums have dedicated GPU and NPU hardware - both of which could run inference for neural network profilers like NAM without issues.

In fact, i'd be shocked if Proxy is not built around WaveNet or similar.

Based on this earlier statement by Eric, I think NAM is off the table for now.

Yeah, the thing is that for Kemper V2 Profiles to get out there in big numbers, there needs to be a lot of people making them. Tonex is really inexpensive and and the V1 Captures were noticeably better than QC and Kemper at release, so there were a bunch that got made right away which helped drive adoption of the platform. Then Tonex V2 comes out for free and QC (already large install base) V2 comes out for free.

The base model Player (cheapest way to make a V2 Profile) is $700!

It’s not looking good for Kemper IMO.

As smart as I thought they were going the avenue of mass pro/retailers, the Player pay levels were a very bad idea.
I think their future will be as a small niche outfit to a small loyal user group or they will fold altogether.

BlackBerry of the guitar world. First mover advantage, stuck to their guns and refused to believe that all the companies around them coming out with new features were things people ‘needed’ and/or wanted. When they finally saw the writing on the wall they released the blackberrry storm, A half baked attempt at taking on the iPhone. I still haven’t decided whether the V2 is that or if they’ll still come out with something else in 2 years when it’s obvious to them. The brand recognition is already getting pretty lost as is. I’m very doubtful many younger players know the Kemper name at all compared to Neural, Line6, IK etc.

Dude the Kemper V2 is totally the BlackBerry Storm 😂 love that comparison.

Yep, we're both local to Blackberry. When the Iphone first came out most companies saw it as a fun toy and not applicable to business function so they stayed with RIM at that time. RIM had 2 years to make a competing product and budge on their BES server stance. They were firm that all emails had to traverse through Kitchener world wide through the RIM BES encryption. Apple then caught up, businesses started adopting the IPhone and the rest is history. My RIM stock went from $189 a share to 30 cents.

If Kemper had put out a v2 product with enhanced features to compete with everyone else instead of just painting it black, it would have shown some common sense. Fitting that it's black. (dressed and ready to be buried)

I mean, even up to recently they were dismissing demonstrated "undesirable" profiling inaccuracies as internet myths and propaganda. No wonder these guys were surpassed. With that attitude, you'll eventually be playing catch up.

Also there's a distinct lack of new features (obviously). Is there hope for much more, considering the relatively weak hardware? Some say several helix stadium features are still not out.. But we can see a roadmap and the ability of line 6 to develop the software based on the capabilities of the hardware.

With Kemper, what is there?

They'll try and squeeze lemon juice out of the same potato for the next 10 years? It seems difficult to imagine they can successfully do so, in a market with now capture-based competition, where before there was none.

.. Unless there'll be some major Kemper redesign in the future. But that would surprise me, to be honest. I may be wrong, but in my mind, it seems more and more likely Kemper goes the way of the access virus.

I think that's the key point. if they had revamped just their software capture technology and not put out hardware, it would keep things relevant for me in the hopes that something was still in the works that would be a huge advancement.

Instead they actually released a barely improved v2 toaster first, which shows to me there is no intention to release a version with more I/O, touchscreen...any time soon.
The player seems cool but the pay structure doesn't interest me. it advertises to me, that if they create further features down the line then there might be even more surcharges.

apparently I have too much time on my hands and Im purely speculating. I'm certainly not all knowing but I think Kemper is cooked.. the next 5 years will be interesting though for all the top vendors. I could see a few of them leaving the market space altogether with new ones taking their place.

There will never be a next gen Kemper, just like there never was a next gen Virus. The design of the KPA cannot be significantly modified, which is why the only changes they've made in 15 years are form factor changes and small changes to components.

Their hands are tied by design decisions they made long ago. It is what it is and it will never change.

There are many people out there who are happy with their Kemper. I am. But the number of people who are shopping for a new modeler and choose to buy a Kemper over the competition is rapidly dwindling.

For a guy who spends a lot of time in guitar forums that statement reveals you are actually oblivious to the nature of your environment! 😁

So true! Proxy could absolutely perfectly simulate an entire signal chain including time based effects, not just in a snapshot, but throughout every possible position of every knob, all down to a thousandth of a db in accuracy...and people would still bitch about it!

Seems wildly optimistic considering their history and the lead others have with the technology.

Still, I think it will be decent and will likely evolve. That should be more than enough considering Stadium's many other advantages IMO.
