Kemper Profiler MK 2

I think when the MK3 Kemper drops this thread will still be going ;)

Once the MK2 Profiling lands and is tested, and we know how good or bad or unchanged it is, this thread is going to challenge the "Line 6 Helix" Master Thread at T.O.P :)
Well, why wouldn’t it be good? I mean it is in advancement on the Mark one right so it’s gotta have some better profiling things than whatever in the unit I mean the display is the same so that’s no big deal the layouts pretty much the same but why would they release a mark two that’s worse than the Mark one that doesn’t make sense.

imagine if it was actually worse and not better, EE

Without reading the last 20 pages of the accuracy of null tests and electronic engineering dick measuring, is this true?

Apparently, the MK II profiles will have to be made on a computer via Rig Manager.

Apparently it is, yes.

But Kemper doesn't have to deal with it as they have no paid software in their portfolio.
yeah but they have to deal with Overloud and STL literally selling kemper profiles on their own platform instead and taking their lunch, as well as 10 years of missed sales. They could still make a bunch of easy money by releasing a plugin.

Not too sure about that now that there's NAM stuff for free. You might be right but it might as well turn out as them paying more for development and copy protection.

Worst case scenario is someone steals it and uses it so much that they end up buying a Kemper. Or it’s some deadbeat that wouldn’t have bought it anyway. But why would a deadbeat steal a Kemper plugin over using NAM or ToneX? The main people who’d benefit are long standing Kemper users who’d probably appreciate the workflow benefits. It would also allow more people to benefit the Kemper ecosystem.

Yeah sounds very much like that sort of deal.

But the stupid thing is that why do you need a MK2 series in the first place, if the upgrade is entirely software?

Again, the Kemper Player is supposed to already have the needed hardware, but the only difference I know is a faster auxiliary processor which I expected would be for UI, footswitching, param control etc type of stuff. It still has the same Motorola DSP so why can't the MK1 run those same higher quality captures?
Suspect they figure out a way to get it to run faster at higher rez. More efficient use of DSP chips? I know with RF tech, everything is bandwidth.
I think of how Cliff get more resolution in his circuit sim algo's using the the same chips. The Turbo is just more RAM or whatever they're using for storage and higher resolution IRs and Verbs

The higher rez profiles sound like Kemper version of machine learning AKA NAM, Tonex. Thus needing the horsepower of a computer to create the files.
Different enough that they can call the process their own, but how different is any of the machine learning protocols. Can they be built on different software platforms?

Most people who enjoy guitar software suites / amp sim plugins will usually at least try a handful of new offerings each year.
I'd say a Kemper Plugin would easily peak the interest of those kinds of people..
'eh... sure, I'll give it a go'

If it's a decent price, say 50-100 ish, I'm sure if it's actually put together sensibly and works well, this would not be scoffed at.

is this true?

Instead of doing the sane thing and posting clear details on their website about the new profiling, the official line on their forum is "contact support and we'll answer your questions".

The result is a confused muddle where details are emerging by people going on social media and sharing poorly paraphrased responses from tech support, which they probably misunderstood.

If you want to ensure a product launch fails, this is a pretty good plan to follow.

Isn’t the price of the mkII version of Kemper Stage, Head and Rack basically the same as the previous versions they replace in the product line?

So the answer to question about why the DSP chips in the devices being the same only the CPU chip was upgraded is as I thought, they are doing a hybrid process and like TONEX and NAM the extra work is off loaded to an out board CPU.

All that tracks as why it’s a designated a mkII version.
Effects upgraded, looper time, boot time etc. A new profiling process provides improved amp profiles, new improved speaker cab sim process.

If the lack of upgraded CPU is the reason the old hardware can’t create the improved profiles it is ‘no harm no foul’.

If the results are as good as they promise this is the ‘NAM Player’ most working musicians will choose.

Seems like Kemper is making a smart move here.

If you love everything about a Stage or Toaster but wish they had NAM quality amp sounds…well now they will.

And for those of us who bought a Player, voila! we already have all that!

I got banned for week for calling them out on their poor roll out of pertanent information. They get their Speedos bunched up their ass on that forum.
