I used the Torpedo Live for this demo, where I loaded IRs of Mesa Oversized (V30) & Marshall Vintage (Greenback) cabs captured with Beyerdynamic M160, M130 & M260 mics. These mics are a bit darker ones, but I love darker guitar tones this is why I chose this combo.
The presence+hicut knob is pretty sweet on the amp, it doesn't has that much annoying whistle frequencies around 2K and the midrange is also sweet. Btw, if I know right this is one of the prototype HatreD amps, so I guess he already did some upgrades on the built.

Ah maybe explains the transformers if it was a bit of a testing bed.

I’d still be curious to hear it driving a cab, a torpedo+mesa IR’s won’t sound the same as the poweramp pushing a cab of V30’s because of the negative feedback and impedance relationships.

Tones sound OK in the video, definitely better than in KAOS own videos.

Did you use the Captor there? I'm guessing he power amp has no negative feedback (at least one one of the settings?) and that's why its called Presence and hi cut?

That would also maybe explain whether there is a reference to a Rectifier design, as that presence knob acts more like a filter (similar to how Vox and Krank do it too when there is no NFB to work with).

There's something kind of flat about the low end but I feel like that might be the Two Notes load (was that used as the load here?). A lot of the time the tone was quite dark/bloated until the presence and treble were cranked sufficiently.

I'd be curious what it's like driving a cab and whether it sounds much different, as a Rectifier power amp changes drastically when using a cab vs using a Two Notes design. I noticed in the Kaos videos the designer mentioned K100 cabs being his favourite, perhaps it was designed to drive these cabs?

Also quite amusing that the transformers are mounted on their side. Are they too tall to fit inside the chassis when mounted the "right" way? Also curious what the construction method is like under the hood. There's so many small amp builders out there, and I'd be kind of hesitant to throw a couple of thousand £ at an amp without knowing how well built it is, whether the parts are high quality and whether its even completely safe to use (Mezzabarba for instance had some pretty dangerous approaches to grounding which I'm presuming have now been fixed).

--So about the name, my nickname is Mákos as you can see, i did put that on the amps for a while, but after Ola's first video in 2013 i think ( - fun fact, the amp is the same you see here, just went under a few mods along the way ) a company named Mako amps threatened with a lawsuit, and little did i knew about the nature of those things back then so i said ok. Flipped my 2 letters, and bam. KAOS. Nice short rectangular in logo, kept that. IDK if they are still in business by the way.
Hatred is cringe AF yes. The customer of the very first one around 2009 or 2010 named it, we were in ouer early 20s and like yyeeeeah dude, metal. Any non native english speaker still thinks that, but since we are a half custom shop company where the tolex color and faceplate variations are included in the price we'll gladly put H100 (that s how i refer to them usually, because shorter) on the control plate on any placed order on request.
--About the amp, circuit, transformers and alike: the circuit is my design. My vision of the guitar sound is fast transient response, dynamic, not gain maxxed out, so you can still play with picking dynamics on the more brutal channel too. I don't wanna go into details, but i use more than one cold clipper in the circuit for example. For achiveing the most of "what comes in that goes out" i use zero negative feedback on all designs by default (that is straight up the opposite as Diezel for example, Peter uses ungodly ammount of NFB, and that i think answers the question if i took anything from his designs. He is a premium dude BTW we change emails now and then. Also since we are the official Central European service partner of Victory amps, and all Boutique Amps Distribution associated brands, Bogner,Synergy, Soldano, Tone King etc,i have access to them all, so could have easily have "been ispired by" of how to copycats phrase it, but if you ask me stealing is for pussies with no vision ).
Of course i added feedback/presence/depth controls because not everyone is like me. I like to use non standard value components and solutions from hifi/studio gear, for example in our bass amp an SRPP stage is at the input, in our Scarface amp (yet to be introduced officially but you coud seen on our socials), active PI tail for best balance.
The transformers orientation is by design, their primary magnetic fields are sideways not up and down this way. (for the user: quieter).

If you have any more questions, please do them in mail or DMs, because i'm a fan of personal interactions - thats why for example i always ask what tuning/instrument the client uses as primary so we can fine tune the amp in question with the closest we got - and i'm too old for the threnches of the forums (depite just turning 40 :).... and i'll make a FAQ out of them and put in on the website/socials.

Welcome and very cool first post. Awesome to hear about the background and design concept of your amps.

A lot of my favourite amps seem to have no negative feedback, which always feels more open and dynamic to me, but with the downside of making the load used more sensitive to the overall sound. For instance, I much prefer my Rectifier with a cabinet load over even the better reactive loads on the market. I also think the amount of NFB Diezel use is a contributing factor in why I haven’t had much luck with them.

I like making things better, hence i love modding work, even on more difficult amps, give them a chance to live longer and better...i guess that s the way i am wired, i do this to my cars also

Sure, we made a bunch of custom versions too, like with 2 lead channels, with 1 watt built in power amp, with 5 watt built in power amp, with built in boost pedal. We can find out what would suite you the best.
