After months of hemming and hawing...I contacted Nik at Ceriatone and placed an order for the 2525. Six weeks of pacing the floor until I get my hands on it. I'm also trying to score a Metropoulos DVL1. Turns out, they will not be making more of those, but I got turned on to a couple "used" ones for sale. Both amps are just mind blowing from the videos I've seen. And here I thought I was done with GAS for a bit....

I hadn't even really thought about it until I get my Plexi50 this past weekend, but the argument can certainly be made that having one guy handwire these amps while sourcing quality components vs large scale manufacturing located where the cost of labor is cheap will deliver more quality.

I tried finding reports of Ceriatone issues and only came across a few transformer failures but it appears Nic found a new supplier and they've been good ever since. Shit, I should invite him here.

Anywho, this looks pretty fanfuckingtastic to me, not that I'm a solderologist or anything-

Nik doesn't make all the amps, I think he mostly does the design and running of the business. That said, the people he has doing the work do as good or better work than the people working for Fender and Marshall in the 60's and definitely better than either in the 70's.

The designs and layouts are solid and done by an engineer not a tech, the components are generally high quality although not necessarily cork sniffer boutique, and the workmanship is consistently good. I would definitely recommend them over many of the current production amps that cost more.

I have been looking at the 50w all access for the past year. Flick a few switches and you have all the different Plexi voicings.

He also makes one that I beleive has a Plexi and a 2023/4 board in it as a special build, 2 amps in one!! I think @paisleywookiee mentioned it a few months ago, but it could have been someone else. Let me see if I can find it...

Edit: found it https://ceriatone.com/british-style-jcm51-all-access/

'twas me, it was. They also do a double 800, the JCM52/102.

Yeah, those are absolutely SICK!!! I hit Nic up via email yesterday, it’d be great to see him around!

That's pretty much what my Verellen Custom Build was (but with an added FS Tube-driven Gain Stage).

Sadly, it was not Marshall enough for me. :(

Great price. And not something a lot of people do. I know I haven't seen any---maybe apart from the Friedman
JEL. :idk

Edit: Holy crap! Read the manual and it has that FS-able Gain Stage. Kind of makes me wonder
if Ben and Nic used a similar schematic.... or even the same one.

Too funny, I have an older episode of ToneTalk playing in the background and as I read that last line I heard Dave Friedman say "I know about Ceriatone (Sir-ree-uh-tone) but they don't use my name, they copy designs but unfortunately there's nothing you can do about that"

:rofl

Man, I was in a funk for the better part of the day but that little shot of synchronicity is all I needed to turn it around.

Congrats man! I’ve heard wonderful things about Ceriatone amps in general and I own a Metropoulos Metroplex. The Mk I Metroplex was the basis for the DVL-1 but they added an extra mode, made more things footswitchable and altered the voicing of the Modded Mode channel to be a little more modern but still very much a hot rodded Marshall sounding channel. You’re gonna dig it. There’s a lot of folks who do boutique Marshall based amps but few of them get the proper rasp and air of an old Marshall like George does.

As things would turn out, I also now have a DVL-1 en route. One of George's employees sold his to me. This one is in black carbon fiber as opposed to the silver/grey carbon fiber. I am sofa king stoked! On top of all that, both me and the amp reside in the same state, so I should have mine early next week.
Nik said the 2525 would be 4 - 6 weeks. The wait will suck, but I am positive it will be totally worth it. His emails were amazing!
